Not too disappointed with today BUT 22:01 - Nov 30 with 1759 views | Chris_ITFC | Our throw-ins always surprise me for their apparent lack of thought or tactical organisation. We seem to either chuck it down the line to Delap, or launch it ambitiously / hopefully across the pitch, risking it being intercepted an opposition player. From too safe, to too risky. Either way, a throw-in to us seems more likely to result in us losing the ball, and sometimes even being counter-attacked on.

Not too disappointed with today BUT on 22:08 - Nov 30 with 1708 views | vinceg | Have thought that for some time. Everyone is a bit static, giving the throw-in taker few options. So much so both fullbacks have been booked for delaying the restart. Wonder if throw ins is something they work on in training
Not too disappointed with today BUT on 22:19 - Nov 30 with 1674 views | BonchosBicycle | Said in the chatroom today, I don't know why Davis is taking throws. He always takes forever to actually get the ball back in play at all, and when he does, it more often than not goes to an opposition player. I saw him do this four times in a row at one point today. Perhaps we need a throw-in coach.

Yes, the much-mocked throw-in coach! Then you think that the ball going out of play creates a (maybe) 50% chance of us giving it away within 5 seconds, and it actually makes a lot of sense. The coaches obviously must work on it - it just doesn’t appear to work very well at this level.

Not too disappointed with today BUT on 22:40 - Nov 30 with 1554 views | Rocky | It really is a very important part of the game. Our attacking throws are often quite good, but our throw ins within our own half went to the opposition almost every time today. Throwing it along the line is often the safest route, but possession was invariably lost doing that today. Last season, our usual routine was to pretend to throw it forward but then change it and send it back to a defender and build from there. This season the marking has been tighter and this has been more difficult. We need more movement, and a better technique to build from a throw.

Yeah, the ones across the pitch seem naive at worst, not worth the risk at best.

Not too disappointed with today BUT on 23:44 - Nov 30 with 1334 views | Swansea_Blue | I watch a lot of football that isn’t ITFC and that’s nothing unique. Try watching Swansea take a throw in. It takes 45 seconds for them to do anything and then half the time it goes straight to the opposition. Maybe there’s an opportunity here for a savvy coach to come up with a new throw in regime, much like Arsenal seem to have cracked corners this year. Maybe?

Since we brought in a set piece coach our set pieces are very poor, ironically!
Not too disappointed with today BUT on 09:04 - Dec 1 with 958 views | tractorshark | I thought the same about our throw ins. But I think you have to give credit to Forest for the way they hunted down and aggressively pressed the ball every time we had a throw. They were very physical and won possession back very quickly.

Yes, true. Part of my point is that teams at this level will be far more tactically-organised and detailed, so a lack of nuance in our throw-ins is being exposed.
