Romanian election - results just annulled 13:23 - Dec 6 with 1966 views | ElderGrizzly | By the highest court in Romania. So the random Russian stooge and conspiracy theorist who won Round 1 and was likely to win Round 2 this weekend has to start all over again. Watch out for Trump, Vlad and the ‘very concerned’ right over here to pile on in

Fortunately, he can't, as not yet in power.

A venn diagram of people who say things like 'you lost, get over it' and who also signed that petition is basically a circle. [Post edited 6 Dec 2024 17:43]

I suspect the Queen was far too worldly wise to be a Brexiteer. You had to be yawningly stupid to be one of those. I doubt even Phil the Greek would have supported it. Charlie? Brexiteer, Anne not, Andrew would after he was told the polling booth was for voting in, not ‘that’ and Edward would have done what he was told after he’d been shown which way up the pencil went. Sorted.

What gives the impression she was a Brexiteer? She wore a very obvious pro-EU outfit at one point didn't she? She was clear that democracy was to be respected. However, there was plenty of evidence that the result was severely impacted by misinformation and foreign cyber influence.

GCHQ claimed not to be looking for foreign influence during Brexit which I find absolutely staggering

I had a suspicion that she was a bit of a hark back to the Golden Age when the proles knew their place, sun never set, maximum deference, pre- Spitting Image days We will never know how hard she pushed back against Tub o' Lard's illegal prorogue scheme, but I suspect she could and should have done a huge amount to have taken the wind from the sails of the whole mad-cap idea if she had wanted....upto and including Tara Lunnun for the ringleaders, heads on spikes at the city gates, or maybe just pointing out that a wafer thin majority on a false prospectus is not really much of a mandate

I think she knew that opposing the democratically-elected government would only have seen the end of the monarchy. It was for the courts to determine the legality or otherwise.

Fair point.... The Monarch withholding Royal Assent is a bit like the Nuclear Deterrent, it is only allowed to exist as long as it is never used Which allows chancers in No 10 to take the country in highly undesirable directions with no meaningful intervention from our Head of State If one looks back at the double election of Trump, the car crash of Brexit and then project that trajectory of Nightmare-Come-True forwards... All Hail Froggy McFrogface gurning on the steps of Downing St in 4 years time as his rabble of racists, violent criminals and sundry other riff-raff are swept to power with a slim majority and our fair isle departs on a voyage in to the unknown with our King wringing his hands paralysed by the thought that he must obey the "Will of the People" [Post edited 7 Dec 2024 12:04]

Romanian election - results just annulled on 12:45 - Dec 7 with 1041 views | monkeymagic | It seems he would be an unwelcome winner from the west’s perspective but it is quite alarming that a court in a stable EU Country can effectively ignore the will of its people - how do you prove that those who voted for him were hoodwinked into doing so by Tik Tok et al? That suggests they consider the electorate to be too dim to vote for the correct candiate(s). Evidently his main opponent feels this is a poor decision as well.

The result was annulled due to electoral laws regarding campaign spending and use of digital media being broken, not simply because people didn't like the result. Lasconi (the main opponent) is probably upset because she probably would have won the second round against the pro-Russian candidate, but would likely lose if she faced the Social Democrat candidate in a re-run.
