The 2030 World Cup on 19:46 - Dec 6 with 1238 views | LankHenners | No that's right - they did that to make sure Saudi Arabia's bid won the 2034 tournament as it has to be held in a different continent to the previous one. Australia wanted to bid for that one as well but FIFA shafted them over the deadlines for proposing so the Saudis were the only options. Definitely done for pure-hearted footballing reasons though.

Absolutely crooked and corrupt unfortunately. Not that Saudi is a big deal. They broke the seal on that one with Qatar.

The 2030 World Cup on 20:59 - Dec 6 with 1021 views | olimar | The 2030 one isnt quite as mad as it seems (almost)- its supposed to be in Europe and Spain/Portugal decided to bid with Morocco (whilst not Europe, does seem logical). But there was a romantic idea that its the 100 year anniversary of the first World Cup and Uruguay wanted it but cant really afford it. So I think they came up with the plan to start in Uruguay but let them share with Argentina. Now Ive written all that, it sounds daft.

And how on earth can FIFA claim to be serious about the woman’s game and allow Saudi to peddle its pitiful record on human rights. Oh, I seemed to have answered my own question.

Don't forget Paraguay. Yes, mighty Paraguay... Also from 2026 there are 48 teams, up from 32. You've got to be pretty bad not to qualify. Or Scotland... 😀

Those corrupt and depraved bastards couldn't have made a worse decision if they tried. We're plunging over the edge screaming "Look at my wad!" as we go - how many more World Cups will the world be in a fit state to hold? Nightmare.

Spot on. As long as the right little envelopes reach the right blazer pockets all will be well. I mean, why would you not stage the World Cup in a country like Saudi Arabia where you can go to Chop Square at lunchtime to watch the fun, give the misses a good beating by 2pm and go to the football at 4pm? An ‘orange juice’ or two after and maybe a little ‘company’ for a few hours before home to bed. The last two - my mate when working for the MoD told me he had to arrange the booze and whores for the Saudis potentially doing arms deals when they were in London. He also spent five years out there so knows how it works - well, as much as you ever can with these people. Doing the right thing? Avoid places that operate as if they’re in the 7th century? Avoid a place where the words ‘human rights’ have those with wealth and power rolling in the aisles - and if you don’t have wealth and power you are treated like dirt? Nah, tell the stupid plebs we are developing the game and the ‘brand’ around the world and trouser the cash. Boom! Mind you, I did watch most of the Qatar WC which makes me a right old hypocrite.
