Of course Thomas Becket was bumped off with swords. But to quote Blackadder you’d have needed a toast rack to display what was left. Bit of a scrape up job by all accounts but it didn’t really matter as Henry 8th’s lads smashed Beckets tomb and contents to bits in the Reformation.
Tbf good King Henry was merciful to his second misses. A French mush was employed to lop her bonce off with a sword and did a good clean job of it - as shown in Wolf Hall Mirror and the Light (well worth a watch). | | | |
