Standing on the open terrace in the Milton Road end. Gale force winds, rain, hailstones the size of golf balls. Players were even taken off for about a quarter of an hour in the second half while 500-600 of us just stood there being battered by the elements.
The break did us good on the pitch though. We went off 2-1 down and turned round the deficit to win 3-2. Cue limbs before the phrase was coined. A very wet me got even wetter as in the celebrations, landed on the ground among a sea of bodies.
Trying to warm up in that coach on the way back was futile and I'm amazed I didn't catch pneumonia.
Edit. It wasn't the Milton end. We stood in the opposite end. The Milton end was the one that our very own Milton seemed to enjoy scoring at.

Leicester at home when we won 3 - 0 was not great either.
Yeah. I was in McGinty's pre-match and sacked it off.
To be fair though, I did make that call a good couple of hours before the game thinking there was no chance it was going ahead and got my professional drinking head on.
To my surprise, my glazed over eyes glanced at the TV to see us coming out on to the field.

Reebok stadium hands down every bloody January . Like ice cubes at end of match.
Good lord. That's reminded me of trips to Boundary Park, Oldham. A few Town fans were deliberately trying to get chucked out by police in order to go somewhere warm.

Sunderland at Roker Park April 92 Barnsley in the snow for a dreadful FA Cup tie 1990
Nothing like an open away end exposed to the elements.
That Sunderland game was one of the ones we could have sealed promotion I believe? In hindsight, it was probably best we saved it for the following game at Oxford as the Sunderland one was midweek with no more than 400 Town there.
I watched Hoffenheim once in the Bundesliga and it was the coldest I’ve ever been. Minus something filthy, hat, scarf, gloves the whole lot and still unbearable. You can take beers to your seat in Germany and by the time I dipped under my chair to get my 2nd that I had there waiting for me I swear it was starting to freeze over.
Walked back into the centre afterwards through the snow and wind with my mates was bleak. Very grateful for the beer hall afterwards.

Was it Oxford a couple of three seasons back with horizontal rain?
Bolton - brass fecking monkeys as well.
That said the coldest I have ever watched a game was at Layer Road, can't quite remember when but it was baltic and half way through the first half, the wind picked up massively and it was just awful.
Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...

Coldest was Charlton New Years Day 1997. One of the few games not to be postponed (unfortunately), half-time shortened. Ref blew up bang on 90 mins, not a second more. Freezing...
Anyone who doesn't say Oldham away (late 80s) on an open terrace in heavy rain, clearly wasn't there. Being 4 nil down at half time didn't help the mood.

That game's had 4 mentions!
Just thinking about it and am shivering now...
A few years later, we played there first game of the Prem season in the sunshine and won 3-0 with Ian Marshall scoring for us rather than, as usually was the case, against us.
Suffice to say I wasn't at that one. I obviously preferred going up there in freezing February while we are languishing in mid-table in Division Two.
