Standing on the open terrace in the Milton Road end. Gale force winds, rain, hailstones the size of golf balls. Players were even taken off for about a quarter of an hour in the second half while 500-600 of us just stood there being battered by the elements.
The break did us good on the pitch though. We went off 2-1 down and turned round the deficit to win 3-2. Cue limbs before the phrase was coined. A very wet me got even wetter as in the celebrations, landed on the ground among a sea of bodies.
Trying to warm up in that coach on the way back was futile and I'm amazed I didn't catch pneumonia.
Edit. It wasn't the Milton end. We stood in the opposite end. The Milton end was the one that our very own Milton seemed to enjoy scoring at.

Port Vale NYD 1990. Yep, that was another one. I had the mother of hangovers as well, as it turned out, as did half our team. Took an absolute age to get home as well as the M6 had lane closures.
Those burgers at Vale Park were bloody lovely though. The one redeeming thing about the day.
You deserve a medal for enduring that. I’m glad those burgers shone like a beacon amongst the gloom.

Evening in the freezing cold and driving, torrential rain away at Grimsby, lost 0-3, Burley was sacked next morning.
The away stand must have been open as we were all drenched to the skin. About as miserable a football experience as it gets. I’ll never forget the name Steve Kabba, he was like a high powered nuclear submarine charging through the great wetness and our defence to score twice.

That open end in the snow at Bristol Rovers 1978 was mighty cold!
On a personal note, Town 3 WBA 0 FA Cup 1971, played in torrential rain - as a 13 year old I hitch-hiked from near Debenham (as I did until I got a car 4 years later!), got absolutely soaked, eventually someone kindly gave me a lift and I saw the end of the first half, drenched!
Was at Bristol Rovers that day Thank god for Robin Turner.

You deserve a medal for enduring that misery too. I’ve been to Grimsby (not the football) and Florence it isn’t.

Funnily enough, I mentioned that game to Kieran after the presser on Friday. Having told him we played BRFC the year we won the cup, he asked me the score and reminded me there wouldn't be a replay this time around. I said it wouldn't be played in the conditions the first game was! I gather a fair few Town fans travelled up early and helped clear the pitch on the morning of the match,

The abandoned game against Middlesbrough was one of the coldest at home I remember. Only time the pitch froze after the cover had been removed, if I remember rightly.
First game back at FPR after I’d had a child. Managed to smuggle in a hip flask! Was Baltic.

We played Luton in the Symod Cup in the very early 90s at PR in November. So cold I could not feel my feet from before kick off and at 2-1 down after 90 minutes I was saddened by a Gavin Jihnson equaliser to being extra time, which in turn prolonged the evening further with penalties. If I remember correctly all 10 penalties were taken with Ipswich coming out on top 2-1. Even winning a penalty shootout showed our vulnerability to this challenge, we just met someone worse, either way neither team looked bothered! I think David Linighan got the last penalty off the post and then in off the keeper!

A friend of ours had underdressed somewhat for the occasion and she decided to take refuge in the ladies, which she discovered was already packed with those who had had the same idea.
The fog game I remember best was the Veil Park 3-1 win with all the goals at the other end to the Town support and none of which were visible. We only knew Town had scored when Danny Sonner emerged from the mist with his arm raised.
The scenes were similar in the blokes toilet, when the hailstones kicked in I headed for the shelter of the bogs and was far from alone. Only time I've been at a match when I couldn't care less what happened on the pitch, just wanted to warm up and get out of the weather.

Arsenal at home summer of 1977. Felt like 40+ in the ground. Horrendous. Think we won 1 or 2 nil though.
If that’s the game on the opening day of the 1977/78 season, it also featured a torrential cloudburst, which saw the referee take the teams off the pitch for a spell.

Wigan at home in our 2018/19 relegation season was very cold and I remember the wind blowing open those vents at the northern end of the West Stand during the game. We actually won that day!
Another very cold game was the one in 2012 against Middlesbrough that was abandoned due to a frozen pitch. From memory, it was a really sunny day but very bitter. I think Sonko cracked his ribs due to the hard pitch after coming down from a header.
I would have liked to have been at the Leicester game in 2010 but the weather would have made getting home very difficult so we found a dodgy stream to watch it on instead.

I saw a game at Scarborough's Theatre of Chips. It was so cold that I got a Bovril from the tea hut and it was like a slush puppie by the time I got to my seat. My pal had a newspaper with him and we shared it for under the coat lagging. It took me a week to warm up again.

Yep. If I remember correctly one of our defenders fell on the pitch after going up for a header and cracked a rib. It sounded like someone falling onto concrete. Ref abandoned briefly after that.
I remember getting out of the motor at Stow station thinking it was -5c, maybe lower and fully expecting it to be called off.
Hertha Berlin v Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League in late 2009. Minus double-figures and a nasty wind whipping around the Olympiastadion, and some brave/foolhardy Lisbon fans jumping about the away end with their shirts off!

Sonko. Was a bit of a row on here about no refunds for fans and fans having to re buy tickets for the rescheduled game.

The Leicester game was on Sky, hence the 5.30 kick-off.
If it had been played at the usual time of 3pm, there wouldn’t have been a problem.
