Everton takeover complete - £400m, and 10th Premier League US owners 10:39 - Dec 19 with 2835 viewsunstableblue

As the BBC state been a turbulent time for the Toffees under Farhad Moshiri.

Strengthening the first team is one of the early objectives although not sure of the FFP restrictions for them in January.

They will obviously pull out all the stops to make sure the first game at the 53k Bradley Dock is in Premier League.

With a Portuguese manager coming in from Saudi to Molineux, Saints new manager incoming - Danny Rohl or former Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand favourites, and Ruud getting to grips with Leicester.

Fascinating time in the relegation battle.

Town have just go to to grind out some results in this tough period, and do well in January.

Still feel Leicester, Wolves and Saints are our best bet.

Significant emotion/movement in the fan base to get rid of him due to the style of football

Which the new owners may wish to resolve… but at the same time he grinds out results… a few more players in January and could probably guarantee survival

Gets them into the new home for next season; and then the project begins anew with a fresh manager

May be better for us in some ways if he leaves

I would be delighted if they sack Dyche and replace with a Lampard type appointment.

They won’t go down with Dyche there. In that respect I almost hope they do try to roll the dice and it backfires, from our point of view there’s little for us to lose by them doing that as they’ll be safe as it stands. To be fair to them after a slow start they’ve picked up. They’ve only lost 2 of their last 11, including some tough games. Probably drawn a couple more than they would’ve liked and inexplicably lost at Southampton, but since the first 4 games of the season (when they had some notable absentees) they’ve produced 1.36ppg which is comfortably mid table form.

They’ve got too much about them to get into trouble. Same is probably true of Palace & West Ham. It’s looking like 3 from 4 (or 2 from 3 if you’re prepared to write off Southampton).

I'm definitely prepared to write off Southampton. Anyone managing to finish below them will be bottom of the table.

Huge points gap to make up (they need 1.6ppg to get to 35 points) and I think their squad is lacking big time.

Not sure about that. They beat Wolves 4-0 but they struggle to score goals generally. Failed to score in 5 of their 7 games since playing us. The 4 teams they haven't played yet are Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Forest.

I took their comment "it will take time to get Everton back to where they belong in the Premier League" as a statement of resignation to the certainty of their relegation. Or did they think they were already in the Championship this season?

I took that more as 'we belong in mid table or top 8 of the Premier League'

Everton have spent more seasons in the top flight than any other team (122), and however bad their team, I think the support and passion of their fans will always keep them up.

I am sure the real intent behind the comment was to be in the top few. It just didn't read like that especially considering they haven't actually challenged anywhere near the top consistently since the 1980s.
