I imagine gb news will explode.

Always nice to see the efforts of an Ernest Bevin Old Boy rewarded.

Well Khan is hardly popular. He only won with 16% of the vote on a 40% turnout. Think he represents 6% of the population of Greater London! His previous wins have similar figures. Why is the turnout for London elections so poor? I don’t live in London, but why is voter turnout so poor?

That argument never works for me. I’d like to see more engagement in local politics, but a low turnout doesn’t affect his legitimacy. The bottom line is that he was more popular than the alternative options.

That’s just a point of general principle though - I couldn’t give a monkeys who the Mayor of London is, as it’s got nothing to do with me.

He got 44% of the vote in the most recent election. Previously - before the Tories tried to gerrymander the system by removing second preference votes - he won with 57% and 55% of the vote.

Turnout is about normal for local elections in the UK

Why am I not surprised that a right-wing and rather unpleasant person would be your go-to news source.

The delightful and honest partner of the balanced and reasonable GB News affiliated, former Reform leader Richard Tice. Following an adulterous affair.

Fair play he’s a proper working class guy. Can’t say the same for Lady Nugee, about as privileged as they come. Another title for her services to elitism against white van men.

Her backstory isn't exactly priviliged in fairness to her

Corbynite then ! :-)

Your pejorative use of the expression Corbynite reveals an ignorance about the disconnect between the idealism of the Labour membership and the actions of many Labour MPs once in office.

In addition, it is just plain wrong to regard belief in a fair voting system as Corbynite, because there are Corbynites who believe in first past the post, and many (including Lib Dems) who believe in PR.

This from Wikipedia.

When Thornberry was seven, her parents divorced and she had to leave their home with her mother and two brothers. After this, she relied on free school meals and food parcels, with her cats being euthanised to save money.

Thornberry failed the eleven-plus exam, so attended a secondary modern school. She left to live with her father when she was fifteen until he left without warning when she was seventeen. She worked as a cleaner and a barmaid in London alongside resitting her O-Levels and taking her A-Levels. She went on to study law at the University of Kent in Canterbury, graduating in 1982,

It was Blueschev at whom your accusation was directed, and from his posting history, I do not believe he is a Corbynite. And neither am I.

I base it on my experiences as a natural labour voter and former member. The honours system is disgusting, and I bet every Labour MP has said the same, until they got elected. First past the post is massively undemocratic, Labour politicians would agree, until they get elected. Same with the monarchy, House of Lords, tuition fees, child benefit cap, you name it.

We don't need your hippy socialist ideals in Starmers new Labour Party. Now we're just a p1ss poor version of the Tories. What next? You'll be demanding we keep the elderly warm and attempt to look after the poorest and weakest in society. That's not what Starmers Labour stands for.
