I think his team of the week is mainly written to drive engagement/comments. Judging by the amount of comment he gets on various platforms I'd argue it's quite successful at doing that!

Of course it's nonsense, just like most of the punditry on MOTD and the like. The only way you can make a fair assessment or comment on things like this is if you watch every game of the weekend in its entirety. There's no way Deeney (or Shearer etc) have done that.
