Is this now the beginning of the end for most of the old Div 1 boys that got us here ?

Burns, Chappers, Woolfy, et al. Those names that will live rattling around in our heads for the rest of our lives like Cooper, Burley, Mills, Beattie and Hunter etc do mine even now.

Some are already gone, Jackson, Harness, Fridge.

Football can be a glorious but also a harsh game.

To those that have already left, may leave over the next month and those that could leave in the summer I would like to say a most profound THANK YOU for what you have given us over the last 3 years.

I don't think we'll sell many at all, especially those named in this thread.

Loaning them out has to be the way to go, as there is a more than 50% chance we will be back in the Championship again and they would make up the spine of the team.

Anyone who thinks players like Hutchinson, Delap, Davis, Greaves etc will hang around for a tilt at the Championship are deluded. We'll need our tried and trusted to get us back up.

I imagine H. Clarke, Luongo and Al-hamadi leave this window and Ogbene will be deregistered.

If we are relegated I reckon we will still be able to keep the fair bulk of this squad and have a very realistic chance of coming straight back up. McKenna will of course be crucial to those chances, but I think we would bring in the right man for the job should McKenna be snapped up.

I think some of them will be around a lot longer than people think. It's never going to be a brilliant use of our resources to replace good squad players and if players like Woolfenden, Burgess, Chaplin, Burns are happy enough to be steady rotation options rather than regular starters I can't see that it would make much sense to be in a hurry to move them on.

It was special indeed.

The way KM has gone about this has been as classy as ever. They’ve not been instantly replaced/thrown on the scrapheap.

They’ve been given their opportunities to stake their claim still. And I actually think they’ve continuously improved this season. And for me it hasn’t felt like any kind of exodus.

If it does mean the end of the road for some then it will be sad but I have zero complaints about the way it’s been handled.

For what it’s worth I believe most will still have a part to play post transfer window and potentially beyond.

Could not agree more. The "Older", "Past", "Last years team" have been given the chance to step up.
Leif, Morsy, Woolfy, Burns, Chappers, Broadhead, and Hirst have all got there.
Good for them.
