Anyone park at The Spiral, The Wolsey Theatre? on 15:45 - Jan 13 with 2369 views | bsw72 | I have parked there a few times without payment issue, but it takes an age to get out from the car park and then out from Town. Now park around a mile away from the ground and walk in, actually works out cheaper and quicker to get home in the end. Not suitable for everyone I know . . .

That would be my preference, stretch the legs and walk in. I tend to park up the west side of Ipswich

I actually used to park on the hill South of the railway station and walked in, but changed to parking in the Spiral after we had a window smashed in while we were watching the Leicester game last season - rather took the edge off Morsy's heroics! I completely agree that the wait to get out of the carpark is super frustrating, but I would rather have my windows intact, and never had a problem with getting a fine. If there are other recommendations for locations further south I am more than happy to walk (responses referring to Gatwick Airport are not necessary...)

The beach where we go to in Cornwall has several car parks. One everyone avoids like the plague as it is notorious for issuing false fines…. If you are more than a few minutes late paying by phone, it triggers a fine - despite this being on the North Cornish coast where reception is often patchy. Added to that, the car park is a thoroughfare to houses and a camp site - numerous residents and holiday makers have been done for passing through. Private parking companies are scum bags.

Been following this story for a while - gotta love Rosey Hudson's fight over this, not all heros wear capes. In other parking news, people in Babergh are throwing gtheir toys out of the pram that we all now have to pay for parking across the market towns. How much is it costing I hear you ask . . . well visitors to Sudbury, as well as Hadleigh and Lavenham, will have to pay £1 for short stay parking for the first hour or £1 for two hours in long stay car parks and up to £2.50 for 4 hours. Could not believe it when we moved here a few years back that parking was free, and still £1 offers great value when compared to the likes of Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich. Apparently it is the now going to be the death of Sudbury . . .

The interview on You & Yours at lunchtime, with the head of some parking association, was a particularly good listen. You know you're on to a winner when the host can't even let you finish your opening spiel before laughing at you. If anyone here does ever get lumped with a fine for parking on private land, it's always worth having a discussion with the folks over at Free Traffic Legal Advice (www.ftla.uk). They're an absolute gold mine of information and help, and recently got me off what I thought was a completely open-and-shut bus lane infringement in London, and even managed to get a costs order in my favour against Royal Borough of Greenwich Council.

To add an extra layer of madness to that scenario It was actually Ipswich Borough Council who they were paying to manage some of their car parks for the free charge You could park for there for free but still had to get a ticket, you can't make it up

No such thing as a fine for parking on private land - should only be referenced to as a parking charge as they do not have the power to fine :-)

I suppose it depends what you are designing it for - if your aim is to allow the fastest possible exit route for those leaving their cars there to get to the surface, with no lifts, I can imagine it is one of the most efficient designs out there :)

It was #1 in supported references for my architecture degree as a space failure and #3 as a design spectacle.

Excellent! I come to TWTD for exactly this kind of insight! But - you are right when thinking in three dimensions, but in terms of 2D footprint, and impact on the skyline, I think it is pretty good. It was probably pretty expensive to build per space, but I am a fan…

I am a massive fan of it. Corkscrew carparks are very rare in this country.

The question is, do they go clockwise in the southern hemisphere?
