We should sign Calper, from Sir Bob himself 06:32 - Jan 30 with 2052 viewsGavTWTD

Had a dream last night. I was around a friend's house and Sir Bob was in the next room. I was nervous to see him so I continued to play with their new puppy.

I plucked up the courage to go see him and he had been discussing his current favourite XI. I saw the scrap of paper which had a team in formation but bizarrely in photo form. I focused on the #9 and it was Calper. I asked Bob about him and he said he had been on loan to Southampton but had returned to his parent club.

What does it all mean?

Oh, there is no Calper. I checked.

I had some Thai inspired chilli and ginger soft cheese as it happens.

Sir Bob was notoriously crap with names - could be anyone! Could you go back to sleep and ask him again?

The 'Thai inspired' bit, rather than the food, I think.

I met him a few times and he called me the wrong name and I had to hold back tears of joy.

(I'm not Calper)

Could it have been a typo? This is clearly an omen and we need to be scouring the world for the player this could have been.

I might have it.

Bob was prone to making errors in names

Calper is close to Caliper

That could be a Vernier Caliper

There is no-one suitable with the name Vernier

But there is Marcus Tavernier who plays for Bournemouth.

Which is close to Southampton.

He's a left midfielder which fits in with our recent buying strategy.

But we stick him in the nmber 9 role as KMcK and Sir Bob have seen something in him.

Did Bob have untidy writing? (He has to have had at least one flaw, no?!!)

If so, maybe it's Craig CALVER, the Ipswich Town youth player from the 2000s.

What position did he play?

Up front.

He left Ipswich in 2009, the year of Sir Bobby's death. Maybe Sir Bob could see his brilliance, nobody else could, and he was just being kept on to humour the great man.

Last seen banging them in for Saffron Walden in 2023. Could still do a job, born in the same year as Morsy. Bobby was one hell of a judge of a player, after all...

was it M. Calper?

As may be an anagram of C. Palmer.....who I hear we may be making a bid for...

Could mean Arthur Cabral?

Never played for Southampton though. Rumours about him joining West Ham and Aston Villa but never went out on loan.

Craig (and family) are Saffron Walden natives.
