First season he was very measured in bringing new players in. We did really brilliantly to survive and even end in 5th.
Second season bringing in expensive players that turned out to be no better than what we had already was a bad mistake. Just disturbed the cohesion and momentum of a side who had tons of spirit already. And eventually led to the near bankruptcy of our club.
This time round first year up and we have brought in far too many players. This has trashed the spirit, cohesion and momentum again. And so it's proving to be an absolute waste of time slinging that amount of money at players who turn out to be more of a negative than a positive. Like Dr Frankenstein I think we've created a monster out of many badly fitting parts. |  |

The gap in quality between Premier and Championship a is a lot higher now than in 2000. Got promoted in 2000 with a team that had needed very little improvement to be able to comptete. Vastly different now. The signings this year probably are not what we need this season most of them being young but as they mature might be a basis of a decent team in August 2026 (assuming we are relegated and bounce back which is a possible scenario). | | | |

There is a key difference - the 2000 squad was honed over five years to be prepared for the Premier League. This time two years ago were in League One - and not exactly enjoying it (we were in the middle of an eight game run from which we only won one game). | |

Absolutely ridiculous to make conclusions based on the state of the game a quarter of a century ago

I would say we have more strength in depth rather than upgrades. The requirement seems to be 2 similar streghth players for each position. Apart from Delap and Smzodics no one offers anything different and I fail to see how Sammy fits the system anyway,. | | | |
