No point bringing in a 3rd No 9 10:25 - Feb 2 with 1237 views | cbower | Doesn't look like we will, but unless they were better than Delap, we will just persist in flogging him for 85+ minutes in general. Even at 4 down last week he went 77 minutes before getting booked and taken off. Surely Hirst has 20 minutes in him?

Delap is going to get extremely frustrated. He can't carry the team on his own.

A great point Glassers. He is working so hard with very limited support. He won't say it of course but if you were him, you'd be thinking that even in a mid table team, you'd be on 15 goals and a near cert for an England call up.

He’s going to be sold to cover the £100mil plus transfer fees along with Davis. I can’t see anyone else in that much demand from what we have. Davis could arguably lose stock as he’s looking poorer as the season goes on. Hutch may get a good fee but he’s not looking like a Premier League player yet.

No point bringing in a 3rd No 9 on 11:09 - Feb 2 with 1010 views | OldFart71 | We have spent approximately £20 million per player on six players, so £120 million. To get in a striker who is anywhere near Delap would be £60 million if you could find one. If we got relegated we would have a very expensive squad with no guarantee of being promoted again. I think what needs to happen is that if we go another four or five games without winning then the planning needs to revert to what we do in the Championship next season without Delap and possibly without McKenna. How this season will affect the desirability of McKenna I don't know. But he must have a fair bit of credibility in the bank from the last two seasons and I am sure given an upgrade in the quality of players from the likes of a Spurs say I am sure he would get more out of them. Not that I am advocating he goes as I still believe he is a superb manager finding it tough in a very tough league.

Sorry but Doughty last year way better than Davis and no one bought him.

He's a solid left back but certainly not as fast and presumably created fewer chances?

No point bringing in a 3rd No 9 on 11:31 - Feb 2 with 913 views | pointofblue | Or is McKenna trying to force Ashton's hand by claiming we need a third striker because Hirst isn't good enough to replace Delap? Which, whilst I agree someone else needs to come in, I feel is wrong. Hirst is good enough and, quite frankly, if we were going to bring Philogene on to cover the right we would have been better off, in hindsight, bringing Hirst on instead and moving Delap to the right.

No point bringing in a 3rd No 9 on 11:42 - Feb 2 with 854 views | DJR | One of the issues for me this season hasn't been the striker but our general inability to feed the striker, get people forward to support him or get other people into the box to take chances. Yesterday, two Southampton players were lining up to score their first goal.

Doughty scored 2 and made 8 when Luton went down so far Davis has scored 1 and made 2. Therefore, unless Davis creates more than 7 assists and scores more than 1 in next 14 games Doughty is statistically better. Watched him a lot as had him in my fantasy team last year. Amazed no one bought him, if we do sell Leif we should buy him.

If we get relegated with a whimper, which is looking likely, I don't think Prem clubs will be queing up for McKenna to be honest. The reality is that we are so far performing worse than Luton did, having spent considerably more money. I should add that i'm still fully behind Mckenna btw, but I feel he has made mistakes this season which hopefully he will learn from and will make him a better manager in the future.

Probably better suited to a side who have two target men and whip a lot of balls into the box We use Davis more for quick breaks? Davis was high up on the chances created stats so it is a case we are wasting a lot of those opportunities

I dont think there will be one we can get but if we did sign a striker I agree we have to have one eye on next season.
