Couldn't wait until tomorrow. As I'm still really chuffed with today.
Were there things that weren't great. Sure. But who cares. That effort. Despite and absolute bust a gut defending is all you can ask when down to 10.
I liked KMs clarke sub. Thought that was gutsy and imo showed a lovely level of learning from KM.
Some minor gripes.. our goal kicks at times in that 2nd half. Kept going over to delap and hutch and nothing really came of any of them.. I did wonder if we might try and surprise them with a kick to the left at times.
First half was a weird display in that I I felt we dealt with them well. I loved our high pressing game returned and it was doing us well before julios injury. But there were some individual performances that were lacking. Hutch. Johnson. Cajuste. But all got better as the game went into the second half. Esp hutch and cajuste. Not so much johnson. Although what a ping to hutch.
I think the need to sub cajuste became a risk. Taking him off and leaving a yellow carded phillips on.. but we got through it.
Delap was excellent. I do wish he'd maybe learn the hirst runs into the channels a bit. There were moments he had the space but stayed central. It'll come I'm sure with time.
Palmer. Really solid. He looked assured. Calm and confident. An early muric moment out of the box but apart from that he was great.
Defence.. held its own in difficult circumstances. I'm still not sure personally who is better between greaves and Burgess. I always felt greaves was faster but today he looked a bit slow. Maybe Rogers etc are just incredibly quick tho...
Townsend. Solid enough. You can tho see the differences on the ball at times between him and Davis esp the short invert balls davis plays as a give and go.
Oshea solid enough.
Johnson. I actually wonder sometimes if he'd make a championship cm more than any other position.
Axel. Silly 2nd foul when on a yellow. But maybe first wasn't one.
Anyways. Gone on a bit.
Very happy with the effort. Good point taken away. Onto next week.

Woolfenden you didn't mention, thought his positioning and blocks were superb.
Think that summary is a bit unfair on Omari, didn't do anything wrong really 1st half and his all round game (not just attacking) was up there with his best. The press first half was really tight, and his defending and movement round the pitch second was nothing short of extraordinary. Would love to see his running stats as he put in a massive shift. |  | | |

Yep agree with wolfy. Forgot to mention him.
I dint think it's harsh on omari personally. I did say he improved as the game progressed. I don't agree in the first half it was up there with one of his best. He wasn't getting past a man and was constantly losing the ball. I do however off the ball his pressing was constant and it caused villa problems and something he's very good at. | |

I’m very glad you’re back and think this is a fair assessment
Only problem with celebrating good draws is they get us nowhere without ugly wins
But plenty to build on from today and a bit more confidence in the tank
