Bury Town 22:19 - Feb 18 with 6224 views | FrimleyBlue | Absolutely no idea how much of a positive effect this partnership would have but its a bit odd for nodge to partner with them over town isn't it? I guess open question to the forum.. is this a missed opportunity as such or not really something that town need to bother with.

Bury Town on 16:32 - Feb 20 by stonojnr | It's nowt to do with the link up really, nobody would really mind if it was any other club, and we know Town will always struggle against other clubs to get youth players, we know Norwich have been better at this than us for years. It's the principle that alot of Town fans would support Bury directly in attendance, or indirectly with cash because they're local and Suffolk and we're linked. A club boasting of its affiliation to our rivals, wrecks that link and now those Town fans will choose to support other clubs like Felixstowe & Walton instead. |
A response from Bury Town FC - not sure why the community club thought it was a good idea to use another clubs scarf The Community Club was originally the youth section of the club, but with 20+ teams it was too much to manage for a group of volunteers so it split to become Bury Town Community FC, hence the name and the badge. Bury Town FC is a separately run club, and there is no one person who is on the board of both clubs, you will be able to see this if you look at both clubs website. They provide youth football in the town up until the age of 18 whereas we run a senior side in the Isthmian League. The scarf in the picture is easily available in our club shop and on-line, so we assume that because the Community Club do not have their own merchandise, it was used to reflect their part. We understand they firstly approached Ipswich Town Academy but they are already partnered with other local clubs and therefore could not work with them. I can't add much more than is in the statement, we do not have any partnership with either Norwich City or Ipswich Town. In reality we have little to offer either club. Having spoken to Cole Skuse this morning, we still have a good relationship with Ipswich Town, we will continue to host their dementia cafe events at our ground and use their Under 18's players in our first team.

Sounds just like ITFC but on a smaller scale, needing to reconnect with their Community arm/foundation. Bury Town FC need to somehow connect with the community arm and control this shi@housery. Suspect there's a couple of scum fans infiltrated the board of the community club and are behind this. Hope a few itfc parents/families now boycott the scum infested community club. Clearly ITFC also need to up their community activities in West Suffolk too [Post edited 20 Feb 18:16]

Bury Town on 08:31 - Feb 20 by itfcjoe | I think anyone who has kids playing football in Suffolk will know we are still light years behind - it's just about ok in Ipswich but outside that it's still all Norwich. Norwich come looking for the best kids, whereas at Ipswich they still expect you to find them |
I would somewhat disagree. How do you know that the best local lads aren’t at Ipswich at the younger ages compared to those at Norwich? Also, those that are at Norwich, how do you know they haven’t been seen by our Academy?

Town have a link-up with Needham. There was one with Cambridge City established under the old ownership, not sure that's still in place though. There's various other similar things, Billericay one.

From what it says it's a community rather than academy link-up, so not about the most talented players, but presumably coaching courses to make money and spreading the Canary word in West Suffolk.

Which is actually more concerning as there are far more potential fans growing up in West Suffolk, than potential players - this is why Itfc need to up their game there…it’s not about finding the next Scowie or Milts it’s about securing fans for the future

It’s something that’s always going to be there, they’re always going to look to recruit from Suffolk as it’s within their catchment. No different to us going into Colchester, Essex and E London etc. Though the link has been set up by Jake Swan, who’s part of their Academy Recruitment team.

This isn't about recruiting top talent though, just community. Agree, they will look for players in Suffolk as we do in Norfolk, Tyreece Simpson being an example of someone recruited from over the border. Although in that case it was Leicester Tigers were beat to his signature, not Norwich! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

People will go and watch who they want to watch, and who is convenient - they aren't going to travel from Bury to Felixstowe because of something like this.
