After a stellar/Stella review like that I feel it deserves another listen. I may have failed to pick up on the complexities of Van Days and Nolans writings first time around
"Run for the sun, little one You're an outlaw once again Time to change, Superman He'll be with us while he can In the land of make believe"
This personally resonates with me. At a time in life when I was running for the sun and feeling like an outlaw once again, these lyrics were inspirational for me.

….beautiful.
They still make me cry, even after all these years.

Interesting. That would be the legendary Tony TS McPhee. He definitely lived in that area and built a recording studio there

I believe it was, yer. He was very modest and barely mentioned the band. It was his wife who sorta explained who he was and their influence on other bands, especially Grunge from what I remember.
Due to that meeting, and possibly bought on the day. I ended up owning a Groundhogs album and being quite impressed with Rich Man Poor Man especially.
The shop was a bit if a hub for Grunge kids, so they were a tad unfortunate they spoke to me rather then 1 of those.
Though a friend who was with me at time suggested that it had nothing to do with them mistaken us for Grunge kids and everything to do with us stinking of weed..

I always felt Time to change, Superman was a reference to the state of my lucky Superman Y fronts

I wasn't a great fan of theirs but I did really like this song.
Another classic.
I had a few friends who were big fans when we were in our late teens early 20,s. Obviously we all use to change the words of Hersham Boys to Avrall (Haverhill ) boys.

Nick Drake ,- Bryter Layter or Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

Just listed a few albums that I still play a lot, and then realised that the majority came from a very small time frame which probably shows how much music has an affect on us as young people.
Dexy’s Midnight Runners – Searching For The young Soul Rebels The Specials – The Specials Pink Floyd – The Wall David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust Stevie Wonder – Songs In The Key Of Life The Kinks – Muswell Hillbillies Michael Jackson – Off The Wall Marvin Gaye – What’s Going On Maze – Joy And Pain Change – The Glow Of Love Kanye West – The College Dropout Michael Kiwanuka – Love And hate Dr Feelgood – Down By The Jetty
No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Also, which Byrds album to include? I would say Untitled but that makes me feel like the only person on Earth who would say Ummagumma is their favourite Floyd album.
