Wow, lucky you!! I’d really love to have seen that. Yes, the best ever away performance of my time (didn’t see Ramsey’s champions).
The best home performance I ever witnessed was the Man U 6-0 game. United finished second that season and they were genuinely lucky to keep it under double figures. |  | | |

Why was that? Was that team not taken seriously by sports journalists because the town itself wasn’t (and still isn’t) a big city or based in London? Or did Forest, Villa and Liverpool simply dominate the headlines? |  | | |

Why was that? Was that team not taken seriously by sports journalists because the town itself wasn’t (and still isn’t) a big city or based in London? Or did Forest, Villa and Liverpool simply dominate the headlines? |
Liverpool were in the European Cup that season and went on to beat Real Madrid in the final so a lot of the media attention was focussed on them. Also, I think it was a case of the media not acknowledging how good a side St Etienne were at that time and what an achievement it was for us to beat them by that scoreline on their own ground. | | | |

I was there that day / night what a team performance, the best I’ve ever seen since my first game in 68 , make no mistake St Etienne were a top top team in Europe and unbeaten at home .
