....for about 20 minutes at the start of the second half.
He was adequate at best for the rest of the match, just like the rest of them.
He receives the ball on the half turn towards our defence too often, decent Prem CMs will usually be on the half turn towards the attackers. His first instinct is usually to pass it to our CBs unfortunately.
The amount of times he passed it to Burgess in the first half was ridiculous.
Apart from that you were right.

McKenna said something afterwards I thought was interesting, or at least interesting that he admitted it. He said we'd planned to play quite a slow game in the first half and preserve our energy to go at them at bit more second half. In that sense it worked.
Probably doesn't totally excuse what you're referring to but might explain it somewhat.

Brilliant contribution Frimmers.
I only wish you could say it to his face
I'd have no issue discussing football with a player. I'd also have no issue discussing the natural effects of the high intensity that he plays the game and naturally there comes a point where he physically can't move around as much as he had before that point and becomes more of a director of play rather than a mover within it.
I'm glad you appreciated my contribution to the OP. Its a shame you decided once again to not contribute to the OP and share your own thoughts but rather pick someone else's post out and yet still don't contribute other than throwing needless pot shots.
You guys wonder why this forum is full of arguments when you post a reply like that

He was OK in general. But once that 60 minutes comes he then points a lot whilst he struggles to get around.
That's no slight on him at the end of the day he's human and ageing as a footballer.
But we have an unfortunate issue where we have a need to sub both our cms after 60 minutes it seems as none of our 4 options can do a full game.
Let’s try to keep to facts.
Cajuste has played 90, 80 and 80 minutes in his last outings.
Philips too has put in 80-90 minutes several times since Xmas.
Without the niggling injuries, Cajuste & Philips have both got to a good fitness level. Which makes it all the more gutting that they’ve both picked up a knock/strain in recent games.

Morning.
Appreciate your facts however I wasn't saying we actually make double cm subs on 60 I said we basically need to. Apologies if I made It come across differently. I suppose I should have said we should sub off on 60.
You may well feel different but I feel our cms no matter what combo get to that 60 odd minute mark and their performances in said game takes a dramatic turn.
On one part that's natural after alot of high intensity running.
The Down part of that is I feel we tend to lose the midfield battle in the final 30 of each game.

You're right, that's what he always does. But that's the thing isn't it, its rehearsed, time and time and time again in training. We are slow in our build up . Some would say patient. But it's predictable and is the major difference in our play and most of the PL teams. Our midfield needs a major overhaul ( all part of the club's continuing re development of the squad). The summer will be interesting in that regard.

Waveney, is there any discussion of ITFC you approve of?
Plenty, just get tired of certain posters constant negativity. Never adding anything else, there's a growing number on here, Frimmers being one of the main culprits.
For what it's worth I thought Morsy was back to being himself last night and had an excellent game. His midfield partner not so much.
Hope that's a satisfactory response

I thought he played well, but Forest were giving Morsy and Luongo time and space especially in that first half which they would never get in the Premier League. We lacked any penetrating passes even though we had an impressive amount of possession. But yes, it Morsy's best game for awhile.

Can I ask that you advise Phil and Gav of the issues you have with my posts as I believe I've not been one of the main culprits and if that is the case then they need to be advised and I'll have to accept the consequences.
I've felt I've kept a fair balance to my posts since my return and have no wish to return to previous habits. So to minimise potential forum issues I'd rather you make a Complaint and let them look into it rather than trying to make out to the forum that I'm back to causing annoyance.

I've stated that you are usually quite negative.
It's your perogative to be that way.
I personally find it irritating but that's me, there's a group on here that find me irritating.
It's not a complaint as such, more an observation.
Apologies Frimmers.

There's minimal tolerance on here by certain people, for others views. It's bullying culture on here unfortunately, and when I've looked at other clubs forums, I don't tend to see these traits, which is very disappointing and sadly says a lot about a section of our fan base.

If we play that slow regularly, we'd be in trouble. We did really well to take that pressure from Forest and nab a goal. With Phillips and Cajuste injured, that leaves Morsy and Mass in the Premier League. It's going to be slow if that happens! Great to see Mass get top-flight games, but I don't think we can start both in this league. It's one or the other for me.

He may have looked into the changes moyes has made at Everton.. according to their fans he's slowed their play down to gain more control of the ball as less direct but also then creating better chances to score over more chances but harder to score chances etc

What's the difference between a half turn towards the defence vs the attackers?

They also have better players to do it with, if we had Phillips and Cajuste both fit and on their game, it would be possible.

Nope, still don't follow.
EDIT: I should clarify - I don't understand how you can differentiate between being on the half turn toward the defenders or attackers unless the ball is coming in the opposite direction. In which case, I struggle to see how it's Samy's fault, or how a "better" CM would do anything differently. I'm not trying to catch you out or have a go, I just think I'm picturing the wrong thing
