Migrant "crime crisis" on 18:34 - Mar 11 by NeedhamChris | Thanks for sharing that. I think it's then fair to engage with the data - and not dismiss it out of hand. Seems a fairly safe premise that the Govt would have been quick to point out this was rubbish data - if it was - although I think the response you mention is to something broader (new Home Office plans). They also don't counter that this data is from the Police National Computer / FOI etc - so no one in the know is questioning the legitimacy of this data. As I said in my OP - I don't support the narrative but the data itself is concerning - comfortable or not. |
The centre for.migration control - According to its website, the group was officially launched in January 2024, without listing the people involved. One of the first two people following it was Steven Edginton, the author of the initial Telegraph piece based on their press release (and also former chief digital strategist for the Brexit Party, now Reform UK). That tells us something. A quick scan tells me that their presentation of “factual data” is misleading. Since most immigrants will be based in disadvantaged or poorer communities I’d suggest it would be appropriate to compare crime levels with nationals living in those same communities. Comparing immigrant crime levels with national figures that include Surrey stockbroker belts and rural communities is bound to be misleading. [Post edited 13 Mar 11:38]
