Jens Cajuste - wishful thinking, or a realistic possibility? 12:47 - Mar 19 with 8130 viewsIPSWICHFANITFC

Whilst I appreciate the likelihood of Cajuste playing Championship football next season is fairly low, it isn't impossible. If we agreed with Napoli a £10m transfer fee if we stayed up, then I can't see any movement in that increasing this summer, so is a £10m fee in the Championship possible? I think so.

Just based on transfer dealings last summer/January, Joe Rodon joined Leeds for £11m (Archie Gray the other way so perhaps the figure isn't quite a true representation of Rodon's value). Tom Cannon joined Sheff United from Leicester for £10m. Mark McGuinness joined Luton and Morgan Whittaker joined Middlesbrough reportedly for £6m+ as well.

So the fee seems possible in the Championship, but the only thing I'm unsure of is his wages - does anyone know what Napoli pay him and what we are covering in respect of that now? And also, the obvious one being whether Cajuste would want to play for us in the Championship too. Not an impossible deal to do if you weigh it up. Delap sale will generate some extra funds too.

Poll: If selling Jackson meant getting in a wide man, would you be happy with Garbutt?

Apparently we're showing interest in Guingamp's Kalidou Sidibe, who is an absolute man-mountain and would be available for a third of what Cajuste would cost. It may be that we save our biggest outlays for Downes and a genuine competitor for Hirst?

That's the name I am referring to, it seems a window too late

We failed to trade up on physicality, size, pace and power imho

We have lots of lightweight number 10's and wingers, only really Delap and O'Shea are a step up in this regard really

Clarke and Philogene aren't slow but they aren't rapid like Burns or Ogbene, Ogbene has been a real loss this season, he looked pretty useful for Luton last season

Cajuste and Phillips probably are a bit more physical than Morsy and Luongo but we don't have a really agile central midfielder who can create or track back on the break, which most other PL sides tend to have

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Brilliant player but not a 46 game season Sat/Tuesday slog of a season player.

Id be looking at Downes/Sheaf type signings. Would be against Travis back if we get one or two other quality midfielders in. He has had a good season at Blackburn.

That's probably the sort of central midfielders we need to be signing this summer

We need successors to Morsy and Luongo, we need to build a partnership who can run games in the Championship

Taylor will have a part to play and possibly Humphreys

I am not sure he would drop down but I think it's a very viable deal for ITFC to make. There is also often a standout or two in the clubs that go down that look miles above the level.

I've no doubt Clarke and Philogene will look like different players in the Championship

The same will probably be true for Johnson as well, it could be the making of him

Ben Johnson should be really decent at that level. He should stay, right?

The other thing nobody seems to have considered is that if he leaves at the end of the season, he wouldn't be here for when the Ipswich Museum reopens after its refurb, so he might want to stay around for that?

And of course Jay Tabb’s induction into the Hall of Fame.
