Seeing more and more like this. Is this the (relative) collapse of the west before the east dominates? I am not sure but starting to wonder.
I do think dangerous financial times are coming and the time to prepare is now.
How do you prepare though? If you can 'afford' to leave and install yourself in a fortified enclave you might be OK, if morally bankrupt, but a whole lot of middle-income people will be badly deluding themselves if they think a bit of paper wealth will protect them in a societal breakdown.
The defence is a redistribution of wealth and a consequential re-invigoration of western society through engagement, decency and co-operation.

I don't mean anything as drastic as that. I don't think we will see a societal breakdown, just a two class system eventually.
I made a post on this the other day. I think the way to prepare, if you can, is just give yourself the biggest cushion position. Sounds obvious but pay off debt, own your home if possible, save money and accumulate as many assets as you can* to protect yourself and your family in the future.
This probably sounds pretty bleak and possibly even morally questionable but that is the strategy I have taken from listening to Gary Stevenson and looking how his content matches up with what I see in the world. To be clear, Gary has never advised people to acquire assets and pad their own nests but I get the feeling that is what he is doing and I could make a good case for suggesting that is the play here it based on his output.
*I don't mean at the expense of living a boring life of misery out of paranoia, I just mean if you can, if you have some spare money save it or buy something (whatever you personally believe is a good investment and will help). Every quality asset you own will help.

We will never get that while the Lab-Con-Dems run our political system.

It’s a genuine worry isn’t it? The horrendous leadership running various major economies coupled with the advance of AI which is going to replace jobs at an enormous rate is scary and potentially not something that there will be any route back from. As other posters have said, time to batten down the hatches and prepare to try and weather the storm

Yep.
It's just a tragedy that the mild social democracy that would have started getting us out of this mess was cynically smeared and destroyed by the establishment, media and comfortable liberals who couldn't bear not being in control or losing their jobs and clout.

Yep. Disgusting how Gordon Brown was treated.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I knew nothing about Gary Stevenson until someone posted a clip of him on here a few weeks back. Finally someone cutting through the same old left v right arguments and demonstrating what is going on in language that is not complex.
You are right, I don't see a better option than holding assest.
US is a mess on multiple fronts. I recently read a fair amount coming out of Arizona that they have no farm workers and many independent farmers are going to go bust. The community themselves have been saying that they have voted for their own demise (70% for Trump). Once they go bust, bigger companies will come in, take their land and consolidate farms. Another big flow from the middle and working classes to the rich.
