It's bloody Two Tier Kier's fault. As an aside - what is your opinion of Desperado? I'm a borderline alcoholic but I couldn't drink that stuff if you paid me.

Lady B likes it more than I,I don’t mind a bottle of pop if I’m sitting in the garden. Desperado is ok on the train going to a game, but I’m more a Ale drinker. I think many of us are borderline tbh.If you take notice of the government guidelines.

They also brew most of it in the same massive vasts in places like Burton whilst trying to make them look like they are still the actual imported foreign beers they used to be. Absolute con job. But the majority of British drinkers dont even notice the significant reduction in quality and flavour so they will keep doing it. eg Leffe is no longer the same stuff the rest of Europe gets- its significantly less pleasant and weaker. Even though that is still actually brewed abroad. Staropramen? A fine beer from the birthplace of the best cold beer in the world? Burton on trent. Tastes like dishwater. Asahi? Italy. Madri? Quintessentially Spanish. Doesnt exist in Spain unless imported from... Yorkshire. Rumour has it, its made to the old Carling recipe, before they reduced that beer in flavour and strength from its already modest beginnings.

Work through Sainsburys and try to find anything thats not brewed in UK or italy in the lager section. All slop. Near impossible. Warsteiner and Spaten are decent exceptions. Though I can only get Urquell in Asda round here.

For a back garden barbecue cooking lager Lidl's Madri lookalike is actually brewed in Spain and is ok. Granted it's not an artisan cookie dough sour, but for the money..

Frankly Greene King these days is a behemoth responsible for destroying alot of good local breweries and pubs. The beer is not what is once was imo either. Soon to be ex-Mrs used to work there.
Bought a crate of SOL t’other day. on 22:51 - Apr 4 with 1139 views | Bent_double | It's happening everywhere. I used to buy sainsbury's 'house' wines (cos im a cheapskate!), a fiver or less for a 12.5/13% shiraz, malbec or rioja....now they're all 11% at best, not worth buying anymore

With wine it must be even worse. Either it means lower quality grapes with lower sugar content for fermentation, or literally extracting sugar / alcohol and messing with the process.
