To be brutal, all three clubs that came up were relegated before a ball was kicked back at the start of August.

Expect it will be the same next season and the season after that.

Premier league is a closed shop now.

Poll: How long will we be in League One/League Two from next season?

The jump between the two leagues is now so big that another mini league has been set up for Yo Yo clubs. Eventually those in it either kick on like Brentford or drop out like the Budgies have. Leeds are clinging on with their fingernails as they lose their parachute payments next year.

That is the stage we have reached.

We joined last year. That was the major achievement.
Our job next season is to keep going with a settled squad like we had last time in the Champs.

What ever happens we will be going into that league much better equiped for it. Then if we do go up again it will be with a much better and more experienced team than we had this season.

It seems to me that while, as we have seen, the jump is enormous, it can be done.
I'm looking forward to it.

Never underestimate the ability of lower-Mid-Table stagnation to completely rot a club from the inside.

Another key factor in the Terminal decline of some clubs has been when owners get very old, or die, and their children/heirs don't have the same desire to plough their wealth into the gloaming abyss of a football club.

Sht happens. Some "established Premier League clubs" will be relegated over the next few years.

You would think Bournemouth could be one of those with such low home attendances I really wonder how they survive and can't imagine they have huge shirt sales either so is their income all player sales that keeps them going as they make big signings too?

I really should research their model and educate myself as I don't get it.

You get a fair chunk of money just for being in the Prem don't forget!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

But is that really enough alone? If so then it really is a closed shop now given 17 clubs have been stable for 3 years now getting the PL prize money.

Yes! Finishing last place in the league means is worth £100M! Gate receipts and shirt sales will pale into insignificance compared to that. Hence well run teams like Brighton, Bournemouth, and Brentford excelling in the Prem despite their size.

I expect Leicester will fire their manager too. It's pretty standard to give the manager the boot when you get relegated isn't it

It's not alone though is it?
You said, "is their income all player sales". It's some from column A, some from column B.
Look at how much we've been able to splurge immediately on promotion.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I didn't think enough about the prize money for staying in PL. The gate receipts and shirt sales would be significantly lower than what we can pull in but the prize money they keep getting and player sales probably significantly outweighs us so question is answered really.

Indeed. Shirt sales is probably a big thing for the bigger clubs (or other factors such as a marquee signing like Beckham, a talented far-eastern player, or an international pop star designing/wearing them).
But gate receipts are pretty much a drop in the ocean for every Prem team.
TV money and Prem prize money are the big things, then player sales.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I think at the moment it's the continued stay in the league, every year guaranteeing £150million, and spending it year upon year, Fulham the last team to be relegated in 2021, so that's 3 years plus minimum for every club currently in the mix in the prem. So getting on for half a billion total more compared to the promoted clubs. Pretty crazy.

Bournemouth received over £130m last season. No wonder they have a much better squad than us & the other promoted clubs.

They have plans to build a new stadium. Just finished a new training ground so they can now build next to the current stadium.
