Is it quite comforting that realistically we had no chance this season? 09:21 - Apr 14 with 3563 views | tractorboy1978 | For all the moments we can look back on and say 'what if' it is going to take 40 points at least to stay up this season so it seems a bit silly to get too worked up over anything.

We aren't unique for promoted clubs in that regard, they are always close to the top of the table for points dropped from winning positions. The quality of the opposition just tells as games go on in the PL. This season and last season below. Leicester are a bit of an anomaly with 8 points but shows they have been so sh!t they can't even get ahead in games! Us - 27 points Southampton - 25 points Burnley - 27 points Sheff Utd - 26 points Luton - 22 points |
i'd rather we were in our position than leicester's, better to be competing even if we fall short

Is it quite comforting that realistically we had no chance this season? on 10:27 - Apr 14 by itfcjoe | I think best we could have done was in that 34-36 range and got a bit of a luck....when 17th is on 35 with 6 games left it's just a standard we couldn't have kept |
If games ended at half time we would currently have 37 points and be confident of still being in Premier League next season. We just haven’t performed well enough to see games out, we have also been poor against teams we have realistically had a better chance of beating, we have just 9 points from 14 games against teams in the bottom half of the table. I’m sure there are things KMc would, with hindsight, have done differently. Tactical substitutions for example.

it's also indicative of how strong other squads are and how enormous the financial gap is. it's maybe not surprising that other teams can improve in the 2nd half, when they can bring on the likes of jadon sancho whilst we bring on jack taylors and conor townsends...

Is it quite comforting that realistically we had no chance this season? on 15:18 - Apr 14 with 782 views | PioneerBlue | West Ham are currently on about the number of points I hoped we could get. It is slightly comforting to know we have a very slim chance of making it this season, but disappointing all the same that it’s been so close but so far in managed games. Take yesterday, on paper we have no right to give Chelsea a game, we did, and we’re only a few moments away from 3:1 or 2:1 type of game. I’m comfortable in the knowledge that our GK, our defenders, our midfielders, our forwards have not been consistently good enough to secure the points needed to stay up, it would have taken many more millions to secure 40 points and that wasn’t even possible for us.

Yes, essentially what other teams have been able to do is exactly what we did to the small fry in League One.

Is it quite comforting that realistically we had no chance this season? on 16:03 - Apr 14 with 678 views | WubbleU | I think the big surprise for me is the overall standard of the whole league. I suppose in a way the money has levelled things out for the established teams. I thought teams like Everton were superb at Portman Road and that is the benchmark for survival as they have struggled last few years. Next year won't be any easer for the teams going up, so they have to do 15 points better than us, proper tough. They'll always be 'what ifs' over a season but worthless really.

Yeah, I don't think the quality of the top 3 or 4 is the highest it has ever been but this is probably the strongest the top flight has ever been in depth. 17th place team having 2 Brazilian internationals in midfield and a Spain international on the bench. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Imagine thinking saying I look a right tit is offensive, champ. Just find it weird how negative you've been about everything ITFC on here lately. But if that's your new shtick, fair play fella.

Is it quite comforting that realistically we had no chance this season? on 19:02 - Apr 14 with 434 views | norfsufblue | We have not been good enough thats for sure but the " points dropped" is as encouraging as it is disappointing in my view. Lets not forget that everyone of those points dropped we actually retain then opposition teams are being deprived of at least 2 points they currently have! .... anyway realistically next year was probably the promotion target year for the owners do weve really just had a financially beneficial bonus year in the Premier League!
