Seen a lot of people mention O'Shea as a nailed on exit but I for one can't see him leaving.
It would have to be a solid mid table Prem side and if that's the case you're probably talking £25M given we signed him for £15M? That to me does not feel like a hugely attractive price.
If it's someone like Leeds I'd feel pretty confident. I know players live on the road nowadays but I'm not sure moving to a third club in three seasons would be top of the priority list for his young family.

Exactly. It’s not necessarily nailed on, but there’s some logic in thinking that anyone who we signed this season could be the subject of interest from another PL team, given that last year there was interest from a PL team!
And you can possibly throw in one or two of our older team to that list, as the rumour of interest in Hirst may show. As I’ve said before, I think more players will move on than some people expect.
There’s rarely loyalty in football at the best of times, never mind when there’s a PL wage on offer. And that’s fine and to be expected. I’ll have no hard feelings against anyone choosing to move on. |
I'm broadly okay with a potentially bigger group of players leaving than expected. I'd like to think that we'd get decent fees as we're not in desperate need to sell, and that we are that much more street wise for the year in the prem in terms of who we need to get in as replacements. Obviously there is a risk of implosion and it all being too much, but I don't forsee utter decimation of the squad. |  | | |

We won't get £25m for him. I think £15m/whatever we paid for him is probably what we will be looking for.
At the end of the day, every player has a price and every player has ambitions to play at the highest level. I don't think we will get in the way of him leaving but I do hope he stays. |

For both recent relegations, Burnley have struggled financially, with big loan repayments due and having to offload players (verging on fire sales both times).
They needed to shift O'Shea and others. We are not in a similar position, and have no need to sell many high value assets after Delap leaves. [Post edited 23 Apr 15:48]

Yep, I think it's completely reasonable for the club to be transparent with the player, we will let you go for X fee, they want to pay y or whatever. That's not refusing or forcing the player to stay or even necessarily meaning the player is zoned out and not commited. Like you say, the management earn their stripes in handling it all professionally, keeping everyone onside. The difficulty being if the player becomes an absolute unreasonable muppet, but that's less likely due to the often cited 'good characters' McKenna wants in the building. | | | |

It is quite likely he will have a relegation release clause like Delap so hopefully he doesn't gain that much interest. For me he is in our top 3 signings of last summer comfortably. Also he is almost nailed on to be club captain once Morsy retires. |  | | |

Not sure his 2 relegation on his CV will help him. Leeds have Rodon & Ampadu, both as good as O'Shea if not better. If Leeds go for another CH I'm sure they will be looking for a higher quality than O'Shea, or possibly O'Shea as a backup to Rodon & Ampadu and not convinced O'Shea would want to be a backup |  | | |

Depends what we would be looking for. If it is £25m, then I'd be surprised if someone pays it. It would be an excellent transfer fee for us. I doubt it will be £25m though.
He's had a good season and I think he's put himself into a respectable position to put other clubs on notice. But I look at Wolves signing that Agbadou for £16m in January from a French side. He's very similar to O'Shea in that they're capable going 1v1 with the attacker, have a turn of pace, aggressive defensively etc. There are CB's out there for a similar fee, I think £25m would be a bit steep personally. |  |
