I hope Kieran gives the ref an absolute earful after the game... 16:40 - Apr 26 with 2149 viewsNthQldITFC

...and takes the fine.

Time after time this season we've had the opportunity to compete in games taken away from us by appalling refereeing decisions which have the look of being biased against promoted clubs.

It is a disgrace.

They were clearly going to win it before the sending off. Not saying those decisions were right just that we have been really poor as well.

I'm not so sure, Newcastle took 20 minutes to have a shot, we'd done ok up to the red card. Their purple patch where they admittedly could have scored three or four was the 10 minutes before half-time between red card and penalty.

Could sound like sour grapes after relegation. I’m sure he’ll comment in his usual measured and articulate way though.

Absolute shambles, sooner we’re out of this sh1t league the better. Nothing is done with supporters in mind, just about milking the gravy train. Feck them.

It wouldn't be a good look and I really hope he doesn't.

Officiating has not gone our way a lot this season but that must not detract from the other factors that has us where we are.

Talk about how far we've come and the fact we need to continue the long-term improvement. Talk about where the likes of Newcastle, Brighton, Forest and Wolves have come from and that is our long-term aim. But let's not sound like we are chewing sour grapes and clutching at straws.

Started on the very first game. Has not improved since.

Whether you call it bias or soft corruption (the pressure, the money, expectations of big clubs with influence, the media etc) it is hard enough to compete with the massive gap that has been purposely created by the PL closed shop system. Hard enough without the dice loaded against you as well.

And lets not completely write off actual corruption. Thats how corrupt people get away with it. "Oh it couldnt happen here, not in England". Bollo x it couldnt. Look at the massive amounts of cash involved, the foreign powers etc etc

What is being gained by who from fixing a game between a Champions League chasing team and one that's as good as relegated?

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

When you say 'clearly going to win it' what I'm sure you mean is that there was a high probability that they were going to win it, 90% perhaps, and I'd agree with that.

But one time in ten we'd might it, if we didn't continuously have our small chance taken away by at best useless, at worst corrupt refereeing.

How do you know that?

Do you really completely dismiss the possibility, with those amounts of money, powerful entities and shady state owned companies, FA nepotism etc? If Platini and company can do it, so can people at the PL or FA. Or the odd referee. Or linesperson.

Think about it. Is your complete dimissal based on a deeply flawed "not in this country" assumption?

Not necessarily, you can't say that. You may be right, you're even probably right in the sense of deliberate corruption, but the 'soft' corruption or unconscious bias is very real, arguably obvious.

A club run by Saudi Arabia might be a more attractive proposition in the Champions League than, say, Aston Villa.

Saying that, I don't personally think it's corrupt. Just inept and perhaps human nature to favour the bigger teams/players.

Unconscious bias and real corruption are worlds apart. The former is quite likely, the latter is nonsense. We haven't won once since Christmas because of corruption, we haven't been good enough and that's the reality. No shame in it either but to blame our fate on corruption is ridiculous.

150 / 200k a year I believe.

Not enough to make someone immune to a hundred grand from a dodgy owner.

But there are other sorts of soft corruption at play here too I imagine. VAR at the Leicester game- I remain convinced that they didn't call the obviosu penalty, because it would have put their mate in a really awkward spot, having just sent Phillips off (and wrongly imo) when the game should not have been continuing had he made the correct decision on the pen.

They close ranks and protect each other.

Doubt Kieran will say too much. Too classy.

Ashton however, fully expecting something from him, including the line "I will defend this club to my dying breath"
