Reform on 14:21 - May 4 by bluejacko | Demonising who? She has decided that the council does not require these positions and is acting accordingly. If she goes along and does this it’s hardly a sound bite but action described by her, Has it been said the council is firing black, brown or LGBT people? |
Clearly demonising DEI as a function This sort of stuff is honestly so childish. An adult would take a look at council spending, see where the priorities are, see where savings can be made etc. Not just go in and say "we're cutting all these jobs that don't actually exist" Is this really what we want from people in power? It's pathetic [Post edited 4 May 14:29]

What? The roles arent there. The only reasons for saying this are (1) ignorance, and not knowing (despite satnding for election and intending this as a policy) that they dont exist; and/or; (2) because its populist rhetoric which plays well with racists.

Other have explained but if you can't see what they are doing then you're just confirming the points made by many, many posters in this thread. SB
Reform on 21:07 - May 4 with 214 views | DJR | One of the issues I have with Reform is that they will often say things that provoke an emotional response in people who don't then question what they are being told. The following today was a case in point. https://news.sky.com/video/stop-teaching-people-they-should-hate-their-country-s In it Zia Yusuf says, "what we are talking about is, stop teaching young people in schools, writ large, that they should hate their country, that they should be ashamed". My daughter is a primary school supply teacher who has taught a variety of ages in a variety of schools, and I can categorically say that this is not happening.

Of course no teacher is teaching children to hate their country The issue is probably that they're no longer being taught to blindly love their country's past and are reaching their own conclusions about it, which makes some people feel uncomfortable

Reform on 16:53 - May 3 by BlueRobin | Of course there is! It’s all very well for you to spout your left wing drivel from your sanctuary. You need to look outside your bubble, though, at the wider picture. I’m not going to interact with you, as your views are so extreme

Why say it then, if not to provoke an emotional response? As it is, what you say in the second paragraph is not the experience of my daughter. Indeed, she feels she has to tread carefully, especially with British values forming part of the curriculum. [Post edited 4 May 21:45]

I was going to respond to that too, but it looks like they've been banned.
