i keep referencing legal net immigration because it amounts to getting of for a million people a year. small boats are a tiny number and for many of them we have a legal duty to accept them. making a dangerous crossing should be stopped, but the number involved is small compared to legal immigration. 70% of the public think total immigration is too high as do i. i keep posting that net immigration has been 3 million in 4 years - but no one comes back to argue that that number is sustainable or it has no effect on, for example, the housing crisis. even the most vocal on here don't seem to want to defend the current level of mass immigration.

You posted nonsense about fiscal rules and this garbage on immigration. Simon, who I don't agree with on economics and what is required to tackle the mounting challenges, is always incredibly polite explaining Neoclassical theories - he knows his onions. Your understanding is just amateurish nonsense and bares no resemblance to the professionals that assist me.

If you ever feel like presenting your objections to ergodicity economics let me know, I could do with a laugh after seeing the total lack of effort this government has put into adaptation.

One thing I never understand is why there is such a lack of transparency; no references, no context to why you think what you do. Can you give me the name of a living economist that you think is credible?

Oh and you have just talked past Stokie and not directly addressed his points.

you never have any answers, mate. so much self-regard and contempt for different views, so little to ever back any of it up.

again, remember from this very thread: "People will vote for them anyway as their base don't care about competence, they only care about kicking brown people out of the country."

this is a line always repeated on here be it about brexit voters or reform voters. those people are constantly called racists and the social composition of those groups is very well established. contempt for the working class is now almost a defining characteristic of the online left in the uk.

you do realise that reform just won runcorn and helsby a largely working class and previously safe labour seat? so those are the sort of voters who apparently "only care about kicking brown people out of the country".

When you've been shown to be a liar, doubling down on your lie is a bold move, I'll give you that.

At least Farage says it as it is ...

"there isn't any money for the NHS."

"we need lower taxes, cheaper booze and fags and to be allowed to smoke wherever we want to."

"there are too many foreigners coming in and swamping us, we're full."

"the EU are a bunch of foreigners we should steer well clear of."

"now let me take my money and swan off somewhere else and laugh at you all."

Bluebudgie, care to explain which of these is not an accurate representation of everything that Farage stands for?

Or to offer anything else that he stands for?

you can't engage in discussion and you have never have answers when challenged. insulting people, declaring that you are right, and belittling anyone who holds different views isn't discussion it's just being arrogant and shouty. i'm sure in real life you know this to be true. hey ho.

As a first time poster to this forum, I have read these posts with some amazement. The points you have made are clear, and unarguable. The ad hominems, without addressing the points of the argument from Herbivore, are really quite extraordinary. Does this person have any reasoning for the clearly poorly thought out views they had!?

If you can explain to everyone how 20% of working class voters is the entire working class in a way that isn't ridiculous then you might save a bit of face. Otherwise, I've scraped better off my shoe quite honestly.

Multiculturalism and immigration may be seen as a great success on Church Street, but take a walk through Ipswich and tell the poor beggers living in terraced housing in Ipswich that it's working well. Who's Lowie, and what are you talking about? Anyway, ayour views are tragic. Your intelligence is negligible. You repeat talking points you've heard others discuss with no understanding what you are advocating, and you have absolutely no reasoning skills. You left school at 16, but wish you'd been able to go to the local college after sixth form to discuss politics with those who understand as little as you do.

He's not said that though, has he.

Lowhouse has rightly pointed out the relatively higher support for Reform UK within the working class compared to other classes. If people say voting Reform = racist, then on that logic the working class are more likely to be racist too.

In fairness, you have correctly pointed out that the majority of working-class voters still support other major parties. Reassuringly, you're right.

Neither of your points is necessarily contradictory with each other - but only one of you is being an abusive, sanctimonious troll, and it's not Lowhouse.
