Where in IP1 or IP4 does a good fish pie? 12:57 - May 14 with 1288 viewsRKD

Ideally a pub with a diverse menu. Going out for dinner with friends but I can’t eat solids at the moment and a fish pie is probably my best bet, but I don’t want to limit my dinner companions.

I know somewhere in IP5 that offers decent finger pie… but I’m guessing that’s not really the same

Good option for dessert.

To be fair an IP5 destination would be fine.

I think the last time I had fish pie it was at the Maybush, and from what I recall it was nice. But must have been 3 years ago

If it's a week or so away, there is no harm in contacting a pub that cooks from fresh and asking if they could do that for you, due to your health needs.

They can say no, but very few places can afford to turn away a solid booking, and most would respond well to a polite enquiry and an offer to pay a deposit because of the trouble they would go to.

But it is not really a solid booking.....

More of a squishy booking

Thanks though.

It really isn't. I had an older acquaintance who had had an ileostomy who would usually contact restaurants before booking to ask if adaptations can be made. Some say yes, some say no.

You could try Ocean Fish Platter. They do a fish pie, but I have never had it.

The Fish and Chips / Seafood is very good though, so hopefully the Fish Pie would be good too.

It is in the Town centre, opposite to Sainsbury’s, in Upper Brook Street.

I really wanted Lucan to give a suggestion for a decent place for this one… that would’ve been Mornington Crescent.

"fish pie" , may"bush" - appeals to my somewhat warped sense of humour
