Without doubt a talented player but his injury record surely must be taken into consideration when discussing potential contract. Pulled out of latest international squad with injury.

He’s missed over 100 games in his career due to injuries, that’s pretty much 3 seasons, like I said great player when fit but generally only available 2/3 of the time.

Although this latest injury might work in our favour, in warding off potential interest from elsewhere.

He's only really had one injury since joining us that would be remotely similar to his previous issues though. His biggest injury this season was the freak injury to his thumb. His injury record is the reason he's with us and not an established Prem side, but generally his availability since being with us has been pretty good. I'd be delighted to keep him.

I remember in the late 70s a headline on one of those billboards they used to have outside newsagents: 'Leslie screwdriver blow'. It transpired that Steve Leslie, Colchester Utd midfielder, had dropped a screwdriver on his foot while doing DIY barefoot. Kept him out for while, but he did play over 500 games for the club.
