I have COVID and it’s my birthday in a few days 21:04 - Jun 7 with 847 viewsSwailsey

Before anyone asks why I tested, it’s because I had a cold which felt extremely weird and I was due to see my elderly dad who has health issues.

Have felt super rough for a few days, am missing people, and potentially will have to cancel a birthday thing I had planned.

To top it off, I’m pretty sure I picked it up in A&E last week where I had to go because I was assaulted (in a minor way).

Cheer me up TWTD? Mental health is taking a battering.

Sorry to hear that. I think it's good you are isolating. I did the same. Many won't bother now but there are many vulnerable people still out there.

Sorry to hear about the assault and the covid. Hope you feel better soon.

Download yourself a good boxset, get a takeaway left on the doorstep and wrap yourself up in a duvet.

Hope you feel better soon Swailsey. FWIW I think you did the right thing not to visit your old man whether it’s Covid or not.

Sucks to be ill over your birthday. Keep your chin up.

Take care Swailsey. Birthday still can be rescheduled and the people that matter always understand. The main thing is to relax, recover and not expect too much or push yourself. It’s a funny virus, but that worked for me when I contracted it in 2022.

Get well soon!

Tsk tsk

I bought some lateral flow tests from Savers a month or so ago and used one after I had been down to a festival in England last week before I did some customer facing work at the local hall. Still see a few people wearing masks so I presume they have tested positive and are doing the decent thing.

So sorry, Swailsey.

I was on the 1900 train back from London Thurs eve. Older woman in the seat behind (mid-60s - 70s) coughed loudly, incessantly, eventually declaring she had felt sh1t for several days. Made phone calls cancelling her weekend family stuff " cos I think I've got Covid". I immediately moved seats, barely resisting the urge to leave her needing urgent dentistry. If you're feeling sh1t, at least effing mask up. And spare others.

I see some wearing masks all the time. Whether that's because they have underlying health conditions or live with or regularly visit someone else who does I wouldn't know.

Look after yourself, Swailsey. Make sure you still get fresh air and exercise whilst keeping your distance from others. Treat yourself with something that can be done still and schedule something for when you are better.
