He certainly hasn't. At West Ham he couldn't hold down a place in the side and Moyes was publicly quite critical of him. At Southampton he's been part of a side that finished bottom with 12 points. Don't get me wrong I would take him back, he's a good age and has good experience in the Championship, but had he not been at the club previously I don't think his name would keep cropping up on here as one we should be going all out for. As we know, the gap between the PL and championship is huge. He was VERY good in his season at Swansea. A lot better than he was for us under a series of crap managers and rubbish team coherence; he’d be a big upgrade on Mass/successor to Morsy. He likes Martin though, so if there’s interest from Rangers I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t go there. |  |

Wouldn’t dispute any of that. As I said he’s better than what we’ve got, should be dominant in the champ and I’d sign him. I don’t think he’s a premier league player, but right now we’re not a premier league club and attracting premier league players to the championship is a very difficult thing to do.

I think I’d agree with that. All he seems to have shown in the PL is that’s he’s a squad filler at best. He hasn’t quite lived up to the hopes/expectations. I can’t see us landing any proven PL players this year, but hopefully the club will surprise us (I include Jens in that - that seems a massive long shot to me). | |

Precisely. Unpopular opinion - With The Sun dossier leaked last summer it was probably the lack of McK's interest in a player who did not fit the bill of being a native English speaker brought up under the domestic system.
So much for Fortuna being our "partner" club. We didn't even make a move.

Perhaps I go against the grain but I really don’t see what others see in Downes. He’s a combative , aggressive midfielder who at times loses his head. Maybe I need to watch more of him in recent times but if he’s the answer I’d like to know what the question is
We’re looking at getting back to the Prem at the first attempt and taking this players with us ( for the most) on the “journey” and for me , he’s not one of those who I’d take
One I personally feel we missed out on and it’s to be proven yet whether he can play in the Prem is Tanaka at Leeds. Scores a few , 5 I think last season and runs for England ( not literally)
