Are you serious?! Storms in the area is definitely no reason to stop a match, if they did that in England, we’d never finish a season! Three times in two days.

I am no meteorologist and I have not been paying attention to the competition to be fair but there is rather a lot of summer storms in the US, compared to the UK. Lightening in the area will stop games, like it did during a Euro's last summer, I think Denmark.

Not really, maybe? I don't have much of a clue what you're banging on about. FIFA and UEFA will obviously have set rules for Lightening specifically in their competitions, wherever they are being held.

It’s the same if you visit a theme park (speaking of experience from Florida holidays). If there is a storm in the area, they shut everything that’s outside until it passes. Their storms are slight more, um, stormy, than ours - and the lightening is a big risk.

"...but the heat also threatened to bring a lightning storm and Taylor was told to take the players off the field." You def don't want to be playing football in lightening Wally. Players have died on the pitch when being struck by lightening.

What has lightening got to do with weather or with the football tournament?

Was there lightening? Three times in two days, at different venues…. Hmmmmm. Dark clouds and everyone off the pitch!

Probably more chance of being shot, but they haven’t banned Americans from the games.

I once met a man who was struck by lightning on a golf course, survived OK happily but his flies welded shut.

Yes American's aren't banned from games in America, well done. Not everyone comes strapped to the ball game you know, in fact believe or not, firearms are prohibited in the Major Leagues in terms of the paying public. You go through metal detectors and there is armed law enforcement, crazy, I know. There has been lightning deaths at sporting events by the way.
How have the US managed to make an already disaster of a tournament.. even worse on 22:28 - Jun 19 with 780 views | RayleighBlue | Happens for loads of events in America, if there is lightning within a 10 mile radius (?) then all outdoor events are suspended. If it happens at a music festival and a band misses there slot due to lightning then it's cancelled. Think there was an England warm up game played in America before the Brazil world cup and that was postponed because of lighting.

Yeah very sophisticated weather systems at their baseball stadiums. Although they still always seem to let people in to buy beer even if it looks bad and there is only an innings or 2 played and everyone is just under the concourse spending money still.

Having lived in england for 40 years, and the last 20 years in USA, I can assure you the summer storms are like nothing England gets. The rain and Lightning is life threatening. Not only can it be rain, very often it comes with large hail the size of baseballs, and wind gusts at tropical storm speeds.

And yet the Mexican leagues carry on and with no loss of life - although there have been deaths of players during matches in Colombia and Peru.
