SSP1 form 18:04 - Jun 20 with 929 views | BlacknGoldnBlue | I've been signed off work since last November because of my mental health. My depression has been very bad and I'm still awaiting counselling. Today I received an SSP1 form from my employer saying im no longer entitled to sick pay. SSP isnt much money (about £118 a week) but it was making a difference and helping.... I'll be honest I'm stressing about not receiving a pay packet at the end of next week. I've always been employed.. I just don't know what to do... apparently i can apply for other benefits...... If I could earn £700-£1000 a month I could get by... Any suggestions from the collective mind????

You need to look after your health but worrying about your financial security is absolutely justified and will play on your mental health. Get proper advice and register for whatever the right benefits are.

Do you like playing mobile phone games? This might get me laughed off the site but I have earnt £640 from playing mobile games from freecash.com in the last 65 days. I have spent about £200 on in game purchases to speed it up but that is still a nice profit. If you're interested there is a subreddit called getpaidtoplay which has lots of useful guides and tips. I realise it won't make £700-£1000 a month but it could be a help and give you something to do. I have cashed out several times.

SSP1 form on 19:45 - Jun 20 with 628 views | Pendejo | As stated by others CAB (IF it still exists in your area) should be your first point of call right now. I had to advise an employee of mine to seek benefits after his SSP ran out in March. Don't want to pry into the MH aspect (well I do, just not publicly*) but does your employer any access to OH? If so are they any good? I've got a chap on the road to "the end" who has been very complimentary about our OH provision. Yet the other chap refused to engage. *I'm nosy

I can see this is offered in the right spirit. I will gently suggest that glueing oneself to inane mobile games may not be ideal for someone already suffering MH issues.

I trust you have seen your GP too. You need support getting all the legal advice and ensuring you are accessing all the benefits you can get. Well done for asking for help on here.

SSP1 form on 20:18 - Jun 20 with 507 views | bsw72 | SSP only lasts for 28 weeks, so if you were signed off in November then it would be around now that the 28 week mark is hit. You will need your SSP1 form to help apply for other benefits you may be eligible for, which in your case may be ESA ( Employment and Support Allowance). As others have said start with the citizens advice bureau. There is also an Online Benefits checker on the UK Gov website that could be useful. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/sick-leave-and-sick-pay/getting-money-aft

Fair comment. No need to glue yourself to it though. I certainly haven't. If someone enjoys gaming (which the OP does not, which is fair enough) it may have helped. I just thought it was so random that probably no one else would mention it. I deliberately avoided mentioning other things I thought are not really compatible with depression.

Like I said- I see it was in the right spirit. The thing with mobile games is they are designed to trigger an empty addictive dopamine loop, with no real substance or intellectual challenge. [Post edited 20 Jun 20:38]

I would add that if you are at risk of missing any payments on your bills, mortgage or other debts, speak to those companies as quickly as possible and explain the situation, and try and get some payment holidays while you sort your other benefits out. It may seem daunting in your current mental state but it will feel a little better when you do and it will reduce some of the worry associated with these payments. Ignoring it may undermine any positive progress you have been making. I speak from experience.

Again- CAB can help with all of that. But bsw is absolutely right about speaking with companies- especially mortgage companies, early rather than waiting to be chased.

Some of them should be illegal. I can see why kids spend a fortune on them. Thankfully I just try to hit objectives and then delete the apps before moving on to the next one. Will stop for this financial year when I hit £1000 as it won't be worth doing if I have to pay tax on the income. Right now it's probably paying £10 an hour, possibly more, for something I mindlessly do while watching tv.

Its quite intentional and cynical. I occasionally download something to play on the loo. I play enough good games to get angry with the cheap loops and ttricks and money demands they are setup to employ. I then uninstall in disgust. But many will be drawn in...

SSP1 form on 00:09 - Jun 21 with 70 views | CrayonKing | As mentioned by others Citizens Advice should be your first port of call. They know about every aspect of the benefits system and will advise you on everything you may be eligible for that you may not have realized. They can also provide food-bank referrals if needed. They're pro-active and are very good at helping prevent a problem from spiraling in to a crisis. Source: Needed help in the past, and now work for them. Fantastic organization. Edit: They can also help with some of those difficult phone-calls which can be a big help when things seem overwhelming. [Post edited 21 Jun 0:13]
