Just bought themselves a decent CB pairing for the coming season?

Swansea fans were over the moon to upgrade Darling with Burgess, they weren’t convinced by Darling at all.

The Ajax chap looks a complete gamble could be decent but could be way off the standard.

That was after Darling left. They were desperate for him to sign a new contract until he didn't.

Daring isn't bad at all. I was surprised he went up the road, as I think he's beter than their current level. Martin was apparently keen on taking him to Rangers, which makes the decision all the stranger imo.

Yes, I follow German football, as many here do.

He’s very accomplished/confident and technical.

Would have been more than happy with him being an ITFC signing.

Why didn't he play more for Bochum?

Their club is much weaker than ours.

I like what you say and I like the way you say it.

Silly counter-ending in your usual boring passive-aggressive manner.

I spent a minute googling him for you and he played 23 games for Bochum (17) in a season of 34 games. So that’s an involvement rate of almost 68%. Not bad for a loanee playing in a team where experienced Bundesliga players were first point of reliance in a bid to avoid relegation.

What’s very telling is his successful pass completion rate: 97%
Essential for teams that play out from the back. Like Ipswich or Norwich.

His big move to Ajax didn’t work out, hence loan, but he was an ever-present and fan favourite for St Pauli beforehand. Bochum would have signed him if they had avoided relegation.

Moving from the high intensity of the Bundesliga to lower level Championship football suggests he will be fully competent in making himself a success here.

This sounds like you haven't actually watched him play and have just looked up some stats.

I have watched matches he’s played in many times and I have absolutely just checked the stats, as I actually said, to provide fuller info for J2BLUE.

Ask me about any Ipswich player and I couldn’t provide stats like that from the top of my head.

Could you..?

Nothing about your post suggested you'd ever seem him play to be honest. If you asked me about a Town player, I could tell you how they play, their strengths and weaknesses etc. I wouldn't feel the need to regurgitate their appearance and pass completion stats as I've seen them play and can give a richer description as a result.

You said you followed German football so I asked a question. It's ok to say you don't know. Not sure why you have reacted like this.

I did give a brief synopsis of my assessment from the games where I’ve seen him play in my initial post. Apologies if that wasn’t enough for you.

Go on then, would love to read all about your assessments of the 24/25 ITFC team.

Am off out now but look forward to your post later.

Will just sign off by saying am sure Jakov Medic will turn out to be a very good player for Norwich.

As in if he was as good as others are creaming over, then he wouldn't be singing for Norwich. Simples.

Not sure who they've bought, but I doubt it'll be a better pairing than Greaves and O'Shea.

No, no, no apparently Greaves is awful!

For the record I think he’s brilliant and folk on here are wrong about him.

RIP Sir Bobby

No. It's the usual "we haven't really got a pot to piss in so are chancing it on untried German and League One players we don't have to pay much for" scenario from a middle-of-the-table Championship side.

Lose Sargent and that gobbing Spanish striker and they are much weaker.

And losing those two is not a case of, "if", but more, "when". I'd heard Sargent wants to return to the States for his football

Norwich's CB department is strengthening.
Ours is weakening.
Both of these facts are regrettable.

However, I would swap our CB department for theirs. Or any other department for that matter.

On what basis is ours weakening? Just Burgess going. If O'Shea goes you might have a point but otherwise O'Shea and Greaves will arguably be the best pair in the division. We will also replace Burgess so you don't even know who is coming in yet FFS.

Will be interesting to find out your thoughts on the 6 goals we managed to score against Greaves and his defence last season. I'd also love to know how many Hull games you sat through to watch Greaves last season.

Burgess is better than him. Purely because of the *team*. He brings out the best in Leif Davis, who yet again will have to be our best player to have any chance of top 2. Davis next to Greaves is a car crash.

The *team* is when players are better than others. Unfortunately, across the last 12 months, Ashton & McKenna seem to have forgotten this.

Thought we were great in both games against Hull. Greaves was ok in those games yes. He wasn't responsibly for a single one of those goals if that is what you are getting at? I think the only one he was in the vicinity of was Harness last one in the 3-0. Unless you are looking to blame him for 4 goals powered in from outside the area? Hirst goal was the only other one which wasn't his man if you want to watch back and a Hull player misskicked it to Hirst. So not relevant to any Greaves argument.

I watched 5-6 of their games last season especially when season was getting towards business end I watched a lot of champ football. Only a couple would have been 90 mins or close other than Town games. Absolutely clear he was a quality player and was really keen we sign him and delighted when we did. He was in big demand and regularly spoken about glowingly before walking away with awards for the season in kuding team of the year.

Burgess isn't better than him. And I like Burgess. WE WERE PLAYING IN THE PREM.
