ITFC Ladies on the move 12:03 - Jun 23 with 1451 views | itfc_bucks | Club sat they'll play at ColU for the next 2 years. Bit disappointed about this - my kids loved going to see them at Felixstowe and there was a really good feeling to the games there. I hope this move doesn't lose that. Clearly a positive step in the longer term, but just doesn't quite feel right.

Indeed the club press release says that, but it still feels like we risk losing that great atmosphere around the women's team. Felixstowe to Colchester isn't exactly a local schlep, is it?
ITFC Ladies on the move on 12:12 - Jun 23 with 1329 views | Deano69 | The Goldstar ground is not able to comply with the WSL2 requirements. Real shame but limited choice other than the significant costs of using Portman Road on a Sunday. Suspect CUFC ground is cheaper to operate than ours. It has been great for Felixstowe to be there and a shame they will lose the revenue.. Oddly enough, its only a couple of miles difference from Portman Road to CU's ground

We risk losing the atmosphere, but the club had no choice! Seen so many grumbles already on Twitter, and yes it isnt ideal and Felixstowe on a Sunday afternoon was very enjoyable, but what alternatives did they have. Portman Road would have obviously been too big and too expensive to run every week. Only alternative I could see would be to pay for Felixstowe to improve their facilities, which I assume they looked in to. But even the surrounding area struggled on matchdays, particularly car parking.

Yep recognise the proximity to PR is roughly the same, but there is a really good core of folks in Flexistowe who turn out every week. Will they make the trek over? It's actually decent for us, it makes a shorter trip home, as we often make a weekend out of it, see the men's game, see the women's and then drive back to Bucks. And, just measure of how well the women are doing, my lad (11), has decided he wants Natasha Thomas' name and number on his shirt this season, ahead of any of the men's team. Grumbles? Bit strong. Voicing obvious concerns - seems a bit more apt.

Colchester's stadium is a long walk from the train station though, and there are no buses from Ipswich to Colchester on Sundays. [Post edited 23 Jun 12:50]

ITFC Ladies on the move on 12:50 - Jun 23 with 1047 views | itfcjoe | Sends totally the wrong message for me, and thought whole point of having a mega pitch installed was to be able to host more games. People talk about cost of using Portman Road, at least we own that opposed to needing to rent out a stadium?

ITFC Ladies on the move on 13:06 - Jun 23 with 890 views | baxterbasics | You would think it would only be a small investment needed in the Felixstowe ground to get it up to scratch. But then I don't know exactly what is required. Hopefully any attendance lost from the switch will be made up for by newcomers close to the area at least.

There's probably added logistical issues with us likely to be on Sky a lot this season. Fixtures and KO times will get re-arranged at fairly short notice, and this would have a knock on effect on the ladies matches. At least at Col U, the players and fans can have more certainty and ownership around their fixtures etc.

I did wonder if Felixstowe’s ground wouldn’t comply with WS2 requirements but there appeared to be one or two unofficial positive hints they would stay at Felixstowe. A shame we have lost a partnership with a local Suffolk club but other than PR what were the alternative grounds that would comply ?

Take your point, not ideal for those that don't drive. Wonder if a car share or bus/mini bus charter as a regular thing could be feasible. Parking is somewhat easier than the street parking in Felixstowe

The men and women should not play at the same time in my opinion, regardless of the stadium. There are only 11 WSL2 home matches so it should be possible to schedule them all when the men are not playing.

A good idea, and a handful of people may do that. I think I will still go to Felixstowe for the days out, and just check the score online / YouTube.

That's my point. Men's games get rescheduled at short notice for Sky, hence you then can't plan the women's fixtures with confidence if they play at the same stadium. The fixtures are out of the clubs hands.

Would be good for the club to lay on a coach from Portman Road maybe, in exchange for a couple of quid donation to the foundation each game.

https://www.cu-fc.com/fans/getting-to-the-game : MATCHDAY PARKING - There is a large car park on site at the JobServe Community Stadium, with almost 700 spaces available. These can be booked in advance of each matchday via colutickets.com - you'll need to add your car registration to your booking to access via the ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) barrier on arrival. Parking spaces typically cost £7 per car.
