I’m glad that I saw them a few times back in the day - even more so when with their original and almost original lineup.
Definitely Maybe is one of the best debuts ever but unfortunately they never reached that high again - in my opinion that is.
I’m really looking forward to seeing them - would have been great if all former members could have been involved - but not really possible given that Guigs has no wish to return to the limelight. And with Noel treating both Tony McCarroll and Alan White with disdain.

Absolutely superb at the time (and I hope they will deliver again for those who have got tickets). The whole battle of the bands thing with Blur was a load of balls though; a complete distraction and did a disservice to both groups who each offered something completely different from the other.
Whist I love 90s music, cant stand Oasis mainly because of the personalities of them and their arrogance. Give me Blur every day. I''ll take Carter, Neds, Blur, La's, teenage fan club, stone roses, dinosaur jn, st Etienne, new order etc..though think much of it was their arrogance

I really wanted it to be Whitey but not sure what's gone on there. Tony is back in touch with Liam and I think maybe Noel too. All seems good.
Guigsy. Well never a chance as you say but GUIGSY! GUIGSY!!!
Debut was never topped but the later albums much better than popularly thought. Dig Out Your Soul is bloody brilliant.
The issue with the band was Noel was giving away golden songs as B sides. You have to admire it.

Those are great bands but Oasis arrogance was justified! Arrogant in the game way Muhammad Ali, Maradona etc were arrogant. You wouldn't want them to be apologetic surely...

Agree. It was a phony war really. And two of the weakest singles!
Wasn't it blur moving the single date that started it?

Liam treated people other bands, celebs, randoms with disrespect and utter contempt. Can’t stand the guy. Good band but Liam is a bell3nd.

They moved it twice - seems quite unreal now and unless something drastic happens it won’t ever happen again (with other bands that is….but would be fun if blur and oasis just did it again just for the pure hell of it).

Those guys had generational talent, Liam was just lucky to be related to Noel and be able to hold a note (previously)

Nightmare! Must have been some reaction when they announced it to the crowd...😬😬
The thing is, if Oasis aren't close to being one of the greats, then who in the past 30 years is?
The Masterplan b sides album should have been the third album proper. If it had, that would have been some trilogy.
It wasn’t that bad actually as it was a festival rather than a gig and everyone was mellow.
From Memory they just shifted things about a bit, had some elongated sets and breaks and Snow Patrol became the headliners - who apparently played a couple of Oasis tracks., I didn’t see them as I was at the other stage.
I think I was watching Prodigy, or it might have been Elbow, they all blur into one.
I bumped into my massive Oasis supporting fellow drunkard of a mate (member of a high profile local waste management family) who will be familiar with some on here. He had just come to see Oasis and was so drunk I had to tell him over and over again and he got angry every time he digested this information.

If you want to play the socialist violin, play it, but don't stand there in you're £20m house with your Bentleys parked outside talking about socialism. At least admit you got it wrong, and capitalism is king and thats why you've fully embraced capitalism.
I hope all their true fans enjoy the upcoming concerts, but I do feel its got the full middle class vibe as Glastonbury has.
Loads of middle class people going to the concerts. They've never heard an Oasis song but got tickets because of the publicity. Just so they can show selfies of themselves at the concerts to Rupert at the glof club and/or Henrietta at the champagne/spa day the following week. The old 'I'm trendy we went to their concert'.. Followed by.. what is that Henrietta, my favourite song?, well obviously 'Champagne superveuve'

Those oasis gigs won't be middle class at all. Not even remotely.
It'll be rammed full of football lads doing bad karaoke after doing too much coke.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
Appreciate others will say otherwise, that’s the beauty of music. but for me, nothing touches them.
Agree with the sentiment of your second paragraph. I think they are one of the most overrated bands ever, but music is very subjective, and most people would hate most of the stuff I like!

Yes, I think I was being a bit hard with my earlier comments.
I like some of their stuff and at least they had a bit of swagger I suppose.

Some of the music is really good, but the industry hype they were given put me off them. And of course the two twot brothers who front the band. Don't get me started on the whiny, arrogant vocals. Just a tick filling exercise for so many who are going. Just doing the trendy thing.
