Ipswich's oldest ever signing? 12:21 - Jul 21 with 1324 viewsMark

Is it David Button (36)? I also recall Stephen Ward (34) and Ivan Campo (34). Ashley Young (40) would surely be a record?

Our oldest ever player was apparently Mick Burns (43) in the fifties.

Didn't we have an old goalkeeper coach (Andy Rhodes?!) that was signed on as a player.

Not sure where I pulled that name from!

John Jackson was 39 when he signed in 1981 and I think he has always been cited as the oldest.

They tried to but did so too late for a game against Watford in 2004. Was on the bench for the reserves though, so may eventually have been registered, but Supple was fit enough to return to the bench the following week. Coincidentally, Ashley Young was in the Watford side.

One Keeper for Town 22nd Oct 2004 17:17
Town will go into Saturday's game at Watford with only one recognised keeper after failing to register keeper coach Andy Rhodes in time. The Blues have added defender Aidan Collins to the squad. 0

Great shout - depends what qualifies as a signing but he registered as a player in Oct 2004 according to Wiki at which point he was 40 years old

You also made me think of Alan Lee doing similar (and playing) but turns out he was a comparatively sprightly 35 at the time!!

Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010

How old was Phil Parkes?

I came here to say this.

Parkes was born on 8th August 1950 and signed for Town in the summer of 1990, playing 3 times in 1990-91 season as a 40 year old. Wikipedia says he signed just before his birthday, but no link is cited.

But he must have been 39 years and more than 300 days when he signed.

I was on a golf holiday in the Algarve, also there was a doctor who spent some time with the Town. When Finidi came up he just shook his head sorrowfully saying that he told the to check his teeth!
