New independent football regulator becomes law.... 21:31 - Jul 21 with 767 viewsArnieM

Of course the PL appears to not be too enthralled, what a surprise, not!

Thoughts people.,..

Football regulator: What powers will new independent regulator have? - BBC Sport https://share.google/c4DOPGu0LONVya0Fh

Poll: Would this current Town team beat the current narwich team

Long overdue. It was one of the rare good ideas of the Tories, so it’s good to see it pass now. If the PL don’t want it it probably shows how much it’s needed. The devil will be in the detail and how much power it actually has.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

its window dressing, theyll be a bunch of unelected bureaucrats who in all likelihood experience of football or being a football fan will amount to how many times theyve been invited to prawn sandwich hospitality for a final.

saying stuff like a clubs colours cant be changed without fans being in the room and part of the decision-making process.

right so club decides to change its colours, hi there fan in the room, do you agree, nope, well we're doing it anyway so thanks for your input

a ban on clubs joining closed-shop competitions, what like the World club championship you mean, and how does that ban work ? what are you going to ban them from being in if they do join a competition or another league ? or you going to fine them.

oh and who pays for the regulator...that will be the football fan wont it through higher ticket prices, higher merch prices, higher tv subscription prices.

Absolutely the best, most needed thing that has happened to football in my lifetime. It wasn't needed when I was a kid watching in the late 60s, until Sky TV and the creation of the Premier League. That was when corporate greed rose up, the suits who decided they could turn football into a money making exercise for the few.
This is a crushing blow for the owners of Premier League clubs who want to pile riches upon riches for them and their clubs only. But it is liberating and brings life and hope to all the other clubs and hundreds of thousands, probably millions, of fans of all the other clubs. Wonderful news, lets hope the regulator has the guts to stand up to the rich bully boys.

Poll: would you rather

Football has definitely gone too corporate but then football needed the money from Sky. If it hadn’t have had that investment, football would have carried on being played in massive urinals, on mud fields and in front of falling crowds.

The regulator is very much needed. I agree with all the principles set out, and welcome the news.

The first nominee, David Kogan, has been involved in negotiating broadcast deals for the EFL and Prem before and knows the ins and outs of football financing pretty well.

He's yet to be approved but looks like someone who knows quite a bit about the game.

Poll: How many points do you think you'll need to get a ticket for Norwich?

I’ll reserve judgment until I see how it goes about it’s business.

Generally, regulators don’t have the best track record!

Exactly, 24 hours on from the recommendation that our water regulators are scrapped and re-configured as they have been next-to-useless. I welcome the idea, but I'm to be convinced that the regulator will have the power required to make the required changes to the game.
