Eating/drinking in Kensington 11:00 - Jul 23 with 1968 views | soupytwist | Does anyone have any suggestions for pre-concert at the Albert Hall eats/drinks please? We're likely to be travelling in on the Central Line from the East so don't mind getting off the tube and back on again. Thanks [Post edited 23 Jul 11:06]

Eating/drinking in Kensington on 19:48 - Jul 23 by stonojnr | There are loads, lots of very good pubs down tiny streets or in mews around there, just walk off the main road and obvious pubs as they do all get busy but ive always founded a spot. Queens arms, Gloucester arms, Anglesea Arms, Builders arms... tell me if you're spotting a theme ;) The Churchill arms is worth a look, especially at Christmas, but is tourist pricing. |
Anglesea arms on a summer Sunday out the front on the terrace. Glorious. Favourite pub after Scarsdale Tav.
Eating/drinking in Kensington on 22:57 - Jul 23 with 255 views | Freddies_Ears | As a frequent promgoer, I'd throw into the mix Khan's of Kensington (above-average Indian 50m fm South Ken tube), Stein's Berlin (a newish German bar / restaurant 200m from the RAH on Exhibition Road, doing great proper beer even by the litre and authentic Schnitzel (etc)), the Queens Arms is a great shout but is likely going to be full be 5pm; the Builders Arms is 5 mins further away and you can book a table. The Hoop & Toy at South Ken is a typical GK, worse beer than Wetherspoons at twice the price. There are some chain places around South Ken Station, incl the frighteningly trendy Brindisa tapas and Comptoir Libanais. Daquise is a London institution, a wonderful Polish restaurant that has been going decades.

Eating/drinking in Kensington on 11:18 - Jul 23 by nrb1985 | Hi Mate - loads round there, my former manor. Naturally budget and cuisine type are the key questions. But there are plenty of great pubs that do food about 10/15 mins walk further west, close to high street Ken. In no particular order, I could suggest: - The Abingdon - more of restaurant now but great food, bring your wallet though! - Scarsdale Tavern, best pub in London IMO, Fullers owned too so won't break the bank. - The Holland - good all rounder but leans more gastro pub. - Builders arms, favourite of the after work crowd, quite "yuppie" but good atmosphere and probably closest to Albert Hall. Beware the £8 pint though! Let me know if you want anything more specific. [Post edited 23 Jul 11:19]

He is indeed. Lives in a beautiful house on the square there.

The Greene King pub in Knightsbridge on one of the busiest roads in London?! Surely not.

Sadly I don’t own a car otherwise I’d certainly be tempted! Not surprised to see The Holland in there. The Abingdon just round the corner I would say is still best of gastro pubs in the Neighbourhood. Spoilt for choice for good pubs in that part of the world. [Post edited 25 Jul 12:12]

Loved Mendelssohn ever since he was in a minister in Tony Blair's govt.
