Muric will be our No 1 by end of season... 14:43 - Jul 30 with 3830 viewsBlacknGoldnBlue

the boo boys will have to get use to it. He's a decent keeper and probably would have continued playing last year if it wasn't for injury. While Palmer is also a decent keeper Muric has a higher ceiling and KM will show faith in him and he'll be No 1 by end of season!

While I love a great come back story, I'm not sure about Muric. Confidence on the border of arrogance is a key part of elite sports people.

One could argue our midfield was shaky too and along with bedding in new players connectivity between the different partnerships on the pitch was shaky at least. Leading to the defensive unit including Muric being pulled out of shape and players making wrong decisions to compensate.

Happy to be corrected, but I bellieve McK stuck by Muric hoping to instill confidence that 1,2,3 mistakes won't cost him his place. Then there was the aledged transgression while on international duty with Kosovo and McK backed him once again.

Then there was the injury situation which IIRC there was speculation on here that McK was taking him out of the lime light while Morsy chimed in to try avoid Muric becoming a scapegoat but that happened anyway.

Then there was the driving offences which happened 3 days before the Liverpool opener.

Certainly I think we can deduce there were off field issues that could have impacted on field performances.

Aside from when he signed, have we had further interviews from Aro? I would be interested to hear his side of things and where his mind is at. (I may have missed some)

Most United fans also want Onana out, mate. You can say the midfield gave Muric no confidence, it'd be an odd thing to say, but you can say it. However, Palmer had the same midfield in front of him and made no errors leading to goals (see the third link) so I don't think it's a great excuse.

Palmer did have issues mate. Thankfully for him they didn't lead to goals otherwise he'd have had a very different forum opinion of him. But he did have the same issues of passing to midfield and them losing it quickly and attackers getting a run at goal. It wasn't just a muric thing it happened with Palmer too.

What did happen tho was Palmer saved less shots than muric. Our defending of set pieces got worse with Palmer and our goals conceded worse with Palmer too.

Sorry I know me and you could probably go on all night defending our thoughts on this lol so I don't wanna waste yours or anyone's night to ill leave this thread there. But I'll get behind who ever ends up as towns number 1. Just hope we haven't thrown the towel in to soon on muric.

Muric was 10 million rising to 15, Kelleher was 12.5 rising to 18.

Ramsdale cost Southampton 18 million rising to 25.

Muric was £8m + £2m in add-ons.

Obviously nobody should be booing our own players, that really ought to go without saying, but if McKenna and the coaching staff rated Muric as highly as a lot of people on here apparently do, would they have rushed out to sign Palmer at the end of January?

With Walton picking up an injury, and Muric carrying an injury towards the end of the January window, maybe that had a little more to do with it, don’t you think?

Palmer did have a couple of dodgy moments passing out, Muric also had others that didn't lead to goals too. In terms of saves, Muric made 3.83 per game, Palmer 3.46, so Muric did make more saves but more context is needed, somewhat depends on the quality of chances you face as to how many you save and how many go in. Will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Guess it depends where you read!

But either way, cheaper than Kelleher and Ramsey.

I’ve never seen a keeper (for any club) with such stature, be so measurably poor on crosses and set pieces as Muric

Our defending of set pieces took a massive downward spiral when muric went out of the team. It's one of his biggest strengths.

Not sure that’s true… we generally defended worse as the season progressed and confidence slipped.., I wouldn’t conflate that to when Muric was dropped for being so poor in most metrics.

That he’s for sale. And everyone connected with his signing has ‘left by mutual consent’ puts the debate to bed.

Him redirecting his career here, is a nut point, I can’t see a scenario where he’s here to do that.

No way are we paying his wages to be number two, where’s the value in that??

That Palmer shares some of his weaknesses is irrelevant, he’s a bit better, has vast EFL experience, and is cheaper.

Muric out on loan if we can’t get a buyer, it’s certain.
