Now, what do we do…. 09:02 - Aug 5 with 5674 viewsdanchances22

If omari is still here come Friday and no transfer is imminent does he play a part in the team on Friday at Birmingham? He is still contracted here and the club pay his wages so he has no right to refuse to play. He offers something special and can be a game changer if needed Friday night. Forget about his little tantrum last weekend if he isn’t sold this summer then what do we do with him? I’m not sure his really worthy of being a little arrogant thinking he’s a premier league player he was fairly poor in most games last season so I’m not sure why he’s trying to push himself out the club.

Just a thought though he still has to feature at some point on Friday if he’s still here. What are your lots thoughts?

I was merely highlighting that people in your age group are more likely to hold racist views than those in younger cohorts.

I apologise if you feel I've tarred all of your generation with that brush, I know that there are of course many who sympathise.

Oh no you weren't, you were just falling back on some lazy stereotyping to score internet points. I suppose I now have to get peer reviewed evidence, I'll try asking my brother's Windrush generation next door neighbour if him and his mates are racists. I'm sure that will go down well...

"My brother's neighbour is black" is beyond parody.

Well done, you have gone and stated the obvious conclusion that someone who has no idea about the personal situations of people would draw. You do not know the half of it...and all i can say is that I do not know you either and have no idea why you jump to such conclusions or hold the erroneous views that you do.

He will play a major part in our season if still here. I would start him on Friday. Don’t believe all the nonsense. He put great effort in c Charlton last week when he came on.

Firstly you introduced a racist accusation which most posters seem to think is wide of the mark.
Then you’ve labelled anyone over the age of 50 as being more likely to exhibit racism or at least less likely to recognise it. (Do you have any evidence to substantiate this?). If ageism is not racism it is certainly prejudice.
Now you’ve pounced on a remark by a long standing and from what I can recall a non contentious poster with a very disrespectful comment.
Are you on a windup?

Hopefully bartyg has gone away to have a think about things, in fairness I did fly off the handle a bit. Just as well I didn't mention I only had one black friend at school...would have been difficult to have more though as he was the only black lad in the whole school for a couple of years.

I think it's very possible there's some unconscious bias going on, we see too much of it for it to be a coincidence. It's interesting that Broadhead wanting to move to get more minutes is seen as understandable and worthy of sympathy but Hutch wanting to move to play at a higher level is seen as arrogance or disrespectful.

It’s possible of course but I don’t think so.
Omari’s circumstances are completely different from Broadhead’s
He clearly benefitted from KM’s coaching in our promotion year and indeed last year as he matured as a player.
He presumably has a lucrative and medium term contract with us.
We are led to believe that he wants to move to a prem club that may potentially struggle to stay up this season rather than stay with us and potentially be playing prem football next season with us.
It was his choice not to play against Auxerre.
There’s no reason to accuse him of arrogance in my opinion but that apart, I think the fan reaction of disrespectful is quite understandable and has nothing to do with the colour of his skin.
If you think differently then we’ll have to agree to differ. 🙂

Black players are often criticised for things like their attitude or mentality and, as you say, more often spoke about in terms of their physical attributes and described as powerful or athletic rather than clever or technical. Look at some of the ways Sterling gets/got talked about both as a player and as a person, very clearly unconscious bias at play alongside the more overt racism he also experienced. People immediately questioned Omari's character and attitude for missing Auxerre, the same didn't happen when Broadhead missed the game the week before, or when Szmodics revealed he refused to play for Blackburn to force a move to us.

I always think Sterling runs funny with his arms like a t-rex.

.....I suppose when you think about it everything is racist.

You know, like beer, disprin, coffee, trainers, chicken nuggets, cling film, plants, clothes, car tyres, calculators, wasps.

Once again a young black Ipswich player is accused of being arrogant.
