Plenty of work still to do in the transfer market 22:09 - Aug 8 with 694 viewstheinbetweener

Desperately need another physical CM (Hackney is not the answer). Morsy’s absence was incredibly evident.

Very, very lucky point tonight, but will take it and move on.

We should not have allowed Morsy and Mass out of the door without 3 replacements, shot our selves in the foot there big time. Unnecessary

The only Muff in Town.

Mental to think after £100m+ spent the last 12 months and we’re ending a game with a midfield of Jack Taylor and Cam Humphrey’s..

I don't think we had a choice with Luongo as his contract was up, and I can understand why we didn't offer another. But we should have held on to Morsy until we'd got replacements through the door.

Having lost Morsy and Phillips, we are very reliant on Matusiwa coming good (and not getting injured) in that defensive midfielder role. I agree we need a new signing there.

I genuinely thought we'd be OK with the new guy and taylor with Cajuste until the end of August but taylor and 5 looked awful.tonight.

5 might have an excuse about a new league etc. but Taylor doesn't.

yep, poor tonight.

Intrigued why you say Hackney isn’t the answer.

As Bloos says, how we’re at this stage (having spent £100m+ in the EPL), and ended up with Taylor & Humphries as our CM pairing in our first game, some serious questions need to be asked of our recruitment team.

I don’t think he has the physical / fighting attributes required to fill Morsy’s void imo. Hackney’s more of a creative CM in a similar mould to Cajuste (hence why I never thought we’d end up with both). We need an enforcer.

Thought someone like Hackney is exactly what was needed in there tonight take on someone, pass through the lines, Matusiwa and Taylor can’t do that

Taylor and Al Hamadi still involved does raise eyebrows.

Taylor isn’t good enough, he wasn’t when we were in this league last time.

He is a rare McKenna blunder in the transfer market. Not sure why he pushed so hard to sign him in the summer of 2023.

... and this CM needs to be clever just like Morsy.
