Some positives... 00:13 - Aug 9 with 929 viewsThatMuhrenCross

Seen a fair bit of negativity tonight, and not all unwarranted, but I think there are many positives we need to take here.

1) A good away point against a good side
2) Limited them to minimal chances
3) Kept going to the end
4) O'Shea and Greaves looked pretty solid
5) Matusiwa showed some good passes and tackles despite the negativity
6) Humphreys looked neat and tidy
7) Hirst battled well up top
8) Palmer untested
9) Szmodics looked sharp
10) Good to see Ogbene back out there
11) 50% possession against a team that dominates possession
12) Fairly even xG
13) No red cards when there easily could have been
14) Came from behind
15) Ashley Young was very calm and composed
16) Chaplin and Broadhead still have loads to offer
17) Johnson and Davis largely untroubled
18) Al Hamadi offers something on the right
19) Top of the League!!
20) We don't have to go there again for at least a year!

Outside of the result I thought we were pretty crap. We knew what kind of game it was going to be but we couldn’t match their intensity at times. KM said it was even until the goal, I disagree a bit, the goal was coming for them second half, or to put it another way they certainly looked the more likely. They also looked like they were seeing it out fairly comfortably if we are being honest. The limited times we did have possession or build a few moves, our touch, composures or final ball was off.

It will basically be one of the hardest games of the season but with our recruitment concerns it really brought home how short handed we are across certain areas the pitch.

A vital few weeks for Ashton. Feels like the entire season rests on the fitness of Hirst and Cajuste as well, two players that have struggled in that department.

We will be miles too good for a lot of teams especially at home but we will clearly have real competition at the top and relying on some of the players that played minutes tonight likely won’t be enough to get it done.

Massive couple window weeks. Twice recently KM has said the squad is not where it needs to be. Over to you, Ashton.

Seems some genuine frustration. After the friendly last week a reporter asked him about plans for Humphrey’s and Barbrook for loans, he basically cut him off mid sentence and said we need everyone.

Yep, he knows we’re way short of where we need to be. Even Cajuste took fking forever to get done. Could have done with him tonight. Akpom? Who knows what’s going on there. I get to a certain extent we’re waiting to see what happens with Omari but he obviously wants out; get him sold and reinvest.

I guess we don’t know how frustrated he is with things internally or if it’s just all normal transfer stuff out of our control. Don’t need it affecting any big decisions down the line!

I think had we held out for another 5-10 minutes before they took the lead we would have gone onto win. For all the effort and hard work Brum did they didn't really threaten us much. Palmer had a fairly quiet night. It wasn't pretty, but we nulled down their threat fairly well. We could have done with Omari and/or Billy Jean. But for how frustrating it was, still a good point.

We could really do with a week on the training ground before Saints, but that pesky cup games is in the middle. I'd be inclined to keep back the squad he wants for saints and train the week and let a very youthful squad go for the cup match. Obviously it won't happen and we will put out a competitive team. Very unwanted match before another big game.

I’d play the fringe players and any promising yoof if we have any. I agree this is a game we don’t need in a competition we cannot do anything in anyway.

Another positive is that in Ashley Young we finally have a decent right footed set piece taker, something we've lacked since...Lee Evans maybe?
