Question r.e wes 10:47 - Aug 11 with 691 viewsFrimleyBlue

October.. was that the approx date for return to match fitness or to be able to start on grass?

Just wondered looking at the squad numbers if he would be registered or if we might leave his registration until end of January as I believe 1st January there are no squad limits?

8 weeks is a long time I get.. but can you be match ready within those 8 weeks or could we possibly look at wwes as a business end of season option.

a niche perspective

Wouldn't surprise me if that's a consideration, same for H. Clarke and Townsend, doubt those 2 will be registered.

With Wes I think we would fancy him back sooner though, and we've got 12 games in Nov / Dec which is virtually 1/4 of the season so I would think he'll be registered in the hope he's back for that spell.

If you are questioning Wes' religious education (and I think you need to tread carefully in these matters given your past indiscretions...) then I am sure he is 100% chapel.

But more seriously I think you have a point, and it applies to Harry Clarke and Conor Townsend too. Some of who gets registered will depend on who we sign before the end of the window, but ultimately the person with the best inside knowledge is the person making the decision - McKenna. We can only look on and watch what happens.

Careful Frimmers you’ll have his dad after you again.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

It’s a shame the loan periods where you could loan a player for a month to get them games is no longer available. You used to get some decent players for a month or 2 who needed games and the loanee club would get them match fit for you.

I have my reservations. If the absolute best case scenario is he plays a part in 50% of the games in the first half of the season then that is pretty sizeable risk to carry.

Add in the fact your talking about a player that is pace reliant and one that will likely will take time to get up to speed (look at Chieo) then I'm not sure it's in our best interest.

I'd much rather give him all the time he needs and ensure that from January 1st having had a few months of training under his belt he is raring to go.

He said himself he’s aiming to be back for the Norwich game.

If that will be the case he’ll be available for 16 games.

Register him IMO.

Even if he is fit in October he would be playing catch up all season. Given his age and the injury he has it would be crazy to hand him a squad number on September 1. We need cover for him now. He is in the last season of his contract and I expect he will be loaned out in January and wont play for us again.

Would be shocked if he wasn’t registered.

Target date was the Norwich game but we have a history of getting players back earlier than expected in recent times. Even if it’s after then, still a decent number of games to be played between then and Jan.
