Bromley not going full strength tonight 07:36 - Aug 12 with 1670 viewsChris_ITFC

Gaffer just been on the radio.

Poll: So, how many league wins did you see in person?

It shows how much of a Mickey Mouse competition it has become, if League 2 sides can't be bothered to take it seriously, and put out a full-strength team now!

Very much feels like a "well he would say that, wouldn't he".

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.
Poll: Stone Island - immediate associations

League more important, he said. Doesn’t want to risk injuries with a small squad.

It annoys me they don't play with the rules for a match a bit in this cup. For instance...

handball is handball and an instant infringement.
Yellow card means Sinbin for 10 minutes.
Extra time you take out 3 players from each team and play 10 minutes each way for 2 halves.

Cue criticism for even thinking about changing any rules.

If handball was a foul any time it touches the hand teams would just try and win penalties by kicking the ball at a hand rather than attempting to score a goal

What is wrong with that? It would be the same as someone diving for a penalty. Just part of the game.

The rulebook has, for years, attempted to remove “manufactured fouls” - and has mostly done so.

A ball hitting a hand being a foul opens that back up.

My version - “if you gain an unfair advantage from the ball hitting the hand (compared to not hitting the hand” then it is a foul.

Ball hitting hand on the way to goal or when being crossed? Ball hit hand as it pings around on the half way line? Ball hit hand as twelve year old child protects face when ball kicked at them from five yards away?

Is it easier to intentionally aim for another players hand, or to aim for the goal mouth?

Bromley not at full strength ?
Do you know I suspect we wont be either.
But I would like us to give Akpom and Cajuste some exercise.

I think your handball idea is not realistic but i like the idea of a sin bin for an 'orange' card.

Not all yellow cards are equal, and therefore having different punishments would seem fitting.

For example, taking your shirt off to celebrate a goal is a yellow but taking out a player when they are on the counter and outnumber you is also a yellow (assuming not the last man), second one could be an 'orange' sin bin offence etc.

If the league cup didn’t exist would anyone really care? Should make it a UK Cup and have the Scots and Irish in it to spice things up.

A no full strength Bromley won't look much different, maybe a couple of academy lads in for key starters, the financial gap between the 2 clubs is vast and after we have done some tweaking of our own both sides will be weakened. But we frequently fail these tests

Or scrap the 5th place champions league spot and have the league cup winners play the fa cup winners for the extra spot.

Then watch the teams start taking it seriously!

There's no way on earth that UEFA would want the possibility of a non-PL team rocking up in the Champions League!
