In 50 years of supporting Town, I’ve never been so angry at a player before on 18:49 - Aug 13 with 584 views | darkhorse28 | Our manager spoke to Palace, Brighton, Man Utd and Chelsea and spent an entire summer while we were paying his wages, agreeing to join Brighton, and leveraging a massive contract. That’s where the trust in this leadership group started to fall apart. Not Omari. He’s 21. Why don’t you hold our manager to those standards. Pretty poor to through a young kid under the bus to protect yourself, when you were allowed to speak to clubs in the same division! It is hypocrisy. McKenna stayed for the money, we paid more, and much more than his Brighton deal. That isn’t great when we had such a poor summer doing our clubs business and the players smell hypocrisy, I think the trust has gone with a good few of them, the exists where we offered contracts speak for themselves, as does Omari leaving. He could stay. Brentford will struggle, Forest maybe less so. But like Burgess and Sam, and Tuenzabe .., they don’t have faith in this leadership group anymore. Being up for sale probably doesn’t help, but that’s a product of the leaderships strategic failings too. It’s ok throwing youngsters under the bus…, but we need the same standards for our leaders too!!!!! Not ‘oh, well we’re emotionally invested, so any crap behaviour that tips the heart out of the group’ is fine. If I was a senior player I’d be furious with McKenna last summer …, a serious lack of respect and trust in the group. I want to be here…, but I’ll agree terms with Brighton first Then players wanting to play in divisions higher.., nah.., you can’t have ambition mate, it doesn’t suit me.

Correct. It was just a vent for the steam that had been building up during/after the game.

The rather big difference being that KM didn't refuse to manage during the time in question, he carried on fulfilling his contract in that close season (annual leave apart). Your last para is also nonsense - not a single post or poster has said or implied that OH shouldn't have ambition or shouldn't seek a move to a higher league. It's the way he's trying to do it that's the issue.

I have a lot of sympathy for Omari. Just a few months ago, Tuchel was telling Delap he needed to be in Premier League if he wanted to be considered for a place in World Cup squad. Omari played very well for England in U21 Euro Championships and may well have felt he should push on and try and make World Cup squad next summer. He also would need to be playing in the top flight. He hasn’t been given the best advice as to how to go about it and perhaps the club shares responsibility he could have been mentored better. Not necessarily by KMc there are others at the club who could have taken in the role Alonko for example. To my mind Omari Hutchinson & Ashley Young would form a perfect partnership down our right side. This is still possible if no acceptable offers come in and he is still here when the window closes. There are enough games between now and January for Omari to make a big difference at the first club that really gave him an opportunity to display his skills. I’m sure if Omari grabs the opportunity that there will be Premier League clubs queueing up for his signature. Win for everyone as we will be a strong position to strengthen any areas that need it in January. The situation can be salvaged to everyone’s advantage.

I really hope so. With respect, I think Omari needs to 'read the room'. I'm sure he looks at Delap and thinks he should be following the same trajectory. Maybe so, but, clearly, an English No.9 is much harder to find than an English forward. The offers that have come in don't reflect his ability, as he clearly has that in abundance. I think it reflects the current market. Like it or not, players are a commodity. Sure, they hold a lot of power, but ultimately, if forwards are plentiful, then your stock isn't so high. I think he would do well to get his head down, smash the first half of the Champ season, and wait for a serious bid in January. That way, he has proven his worth yet again, has displayed a good attitude and still has time to be available for the World Cup in the summer, if that's his goal. [Post edited 13 Aug 21:04]

Pah! I don’t believe that for a second. You’re obviously annoyed that you’ll likely have to sell all those Omari posters, curtains, duvet set, etc. You’re not kidding me. Def info.

When Omari didn't want to travel to Auxerre, prevailing opinion on here was pretty accommodating if memory serves. Even when he had his throat infection, opinions were split on whether to draw firm conclusions. Broadhead, conversely, participated throughout pre-season. He played in our far-more-important league opener. Yesterday morning is his first eyebrow-raiser in his time with us, despite having been frozen out last summer, despite having been relegated to third or fourth choice when everyone's fit, and despite there being a concrete offer from his boyhood club, which it's very likely we will want to accept before the window closes. Now I'm as cynical as the next man; I think Broadhead's pulled a sickie to avoid playing Bromley reserves, as much as he could have woken up unwell. It's possible he remains available for the far-more-important Southampton game though, and I think we should afford him a modicum of the grace that we did the star man. Omari's as a sad one. I'd still welcome him back eagerly if he's willing to try his best for us.

| They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all! | Poll: | Who should start in CM with Cajuste? |
