In 50 years of supporting Town, I’ve never been so angry at a player before on 09:22 - Aug 13 by Somersetractor | It is crazy and I'm not saying wrong (because none of us actually know), that the majority general assumption is that Omari is being petulant and not that he may be suffering mentally with the pressures of what is going on around him. And no, being paid thousands of pounds a week is not a cure for mental health. |
What is it that is going on around him that would be so traumatising then?

In 50 years of supporting Town, I’ve never been so angry at a player before on 10:04 - Aug 13 by noggin | "the fact he's made the point twice about omari advising he can't play imo says a lot" But that's you making assumptions. Mental health is an individual thing. If Omari feels he's not up to playing, then that's his judgment. KM might not be happy about it, but would we want OH playing while his head is in the wrong place? |
It's a pretty obvious and straightforward link to make given he's gone from head space, to sore throat to headspace isn't it, whilst training in between. Feel you're having to go through more mental gymnastics to make your point here than Frimley.

McKenna said he trained on Monday. Nothing to suggest anything is out of the ordinary on that front.

In 50 years of supporting Town, I’ve never been so angry at a player before on 09:15 - Aug 13 by Pinewoodblue | No anger with Omari, it is as it is, assuming he has downed tools. Any anger is reserved for those responsible for team selection and tactics. The lack of effort, concern shown last night is unacceptable. KMc give your head a wobble. |
KM wasn't playing last night!

In 50 years of supporting Town, I’ve never been so angry at a player before on 10:08 - Aug 13 by Pinewoodblue | While the club has a duty of care towards players it has to be remembered that KKc’s priority should be the welfare of the club. His priority yesterday was winning a football match, he underachieved. His priority today is preparing for Sunday’s game. Togetherness has been a key factor over recent seasons. It seems to be discipating, we are in danger of falling apart at the seams. |
The club is nothing without it's players. By caring for them you are caring for the club. And so are we - which is why booing etc is always counter productive (not saying you're doing that BTW). His care, seen and experienced by the players will ultimately help and add to the togetherness of the squad. His priority yesterday clearly wasn't to win the game or he would have put out a full strength team. His priority is bigger and longer term than any one game, so it may be that even on Sunday he won't put our best players out. He may choose, in the interests of long term gain, to hold them back rather than risk injury.

How about Ian Crook or Dozzell no not that one, Jason, Spurs were his boyhood club he said when he signed for them. And those are the only the two off the top of my head, 50 years blimey, and do we count Hreidarsson who pushed for a move, but sort of carried on playing for a bit ?

Precisely. Player put his own needs before that of the club. These things are easily forgiven and forgotten.

In 50 years of supporting Town, I’ve never been so angry at a player before on 13:47 - Aug 13 with 218 views | pointofblue | Firstly, I think if the club believed Hutchinson was on a verge of a breakdown or something drastic they would have briefed McKenna to address the situation far more carefully than he did. He would have been prepped to answer the inevitable question in a very specific way - even if it was to extend the sore throat excuse. The answer would have shielded Hutchinson; instead of has opened him up to accusations of downing tools. And that seems to believe McKenna's line of thought, going by his response. Broadhead is different in many ways. Firstly, he was available for Birmingham so we have no proof at this moment in time that he wasn't sick. If and when McKenna answers a question similarly to the way he responded about Hutchinson then we'll know. Secondly, he has been quickly cast aside by the management team for 'better' players and we have shown a willingness to let him go. I think we were preparing to let him leave in January until we failed to get in adequate cover. If he has decided enough is enough I'd have far more sympathy for him than I do Hutchinson.

MH was professional in every way, and there are all sorts of completely legitimate/understandable reasons for a player who’s been long term at a club to reject a move out of the area, particularly that of family upheaval.

Both Broadhead and Hutchinson trained on Monday and both were training to play the game yesterday. It would appear that both have let KM down for the game last night, after training to be in the team. Speculation below Broadhead has probably been told he can go, once we have a replacement, hence he was happy to play at Birmingham, however with Akpom now signed, feels he should be able to make his move.
In 50 years of supporting Town, I’ve never been so angry at a player before on 14:07 - Aug 13 with 155 views | Nutkins_Return | I think we forget the age aspect sometimes because we just see footballers on ability/importance to us and owned by us (which is true). He's 21. I was just finishing uni. Can't imagine being in the scenario of potentially missing out on such a huge opportunity and what my emotional intelligence would have been around it at that age. I do think I would have played. But I'm probably discounting all the voices telling Omari what he should do (agent etc) to get the move. Ultimately I think his stance is wrong. But I can understand it and Im not going to waste energy being angry about it or refusing to forgive him etc.

Or Broadhead is legitimately sick. It could be Hutchinson was too at the time.

With that we just don't know - your interpretation of KM's tone isn't sufficient evidence. There was plenty of previous evidence that Broady had specifically *not* downed tools - in fact there was a whole thread recently praising him for his professional attitude, esp given how little he'd previously been rewarded in terms of game time when he'd played so well when given the chance.

And so be it. Dropped from the side after playing well, almost moving on January before being kept on to fill a squad place, telling him he go just to keep hold of him again because we can't get people in... again... over the summer. I can understand where he's coming from. But, as said, there is nothing to say he wasn't sick. If McKenna says otherwise then so be it.

Let’s get it right. Nothing to do mental health here and all to do with greed, money and premier league. If you can’t kick a ball about on the money some of these players get, then they shouldn’t be in the game. Stress…….what stress ? Bet he is fine once he gets his move.
