Why don't fringe squad players take their chance ? 15:10 - Aug 13 with 524 viewseddiespearitt03

A striker who missed a good chance in the game to score and then can not convert a penalty.
What does that tell you ?

Why is a fairly strong Ipswich team losing again to lower opposition. ?
If we play in the next round then it is more game time
and another chance for a fringe player to stake a claim.
Feel sorry for the travelling supporters. A long night just to watch a sorryful defeat.

Why is a fairly strong Ipswich team losing again to lower opposition. ?

Because it’s not as strong as everyone thinks.

I’d have thought our line up would’ve / should’ve won last night …pretty much like most .

I guess it’s all relative

It's almost like a there is a mythical power, lets call it confidence for the sake of argument, that some players struggle with more than others and try to compensate by trying too hard when they get the chance. It's either that or AAH is just doing it for shts and giggles, but I doubt it.

As for the team, these things happen, we created enough chances to win the game but the ball didn't go in. Bromley also played very well and I thought it was a good, open and entertaining cup game between two teams with players trying to make their mark in early season form.

People are very keen to shift the criticism onto Town, but equal acknowledgement for Bromley winning should also be made - they hung in when under pressure and made their breaks count, plus their keeper played better than ours.

The joy of sport is that it is not a science and you get results which go against the odds as to how well teams and individuals should perform.

I was one of the travelling supporters (albeit in the Home End) and wouldn't say I felt particularly sorry for myself. Went wanting to see a new ground and a bit of football, but I'm not terribly invested in us progressing in the EFL Cup.

Think it's sort of futile to make judgements about individual players or collective performance in these games. We've been here before and there's no obvious link between playing well/badly against lower league opposition and having a successful season. These games just ask different (largely irrelevant) questions about our squad.

Is Ali Al-Hamadi good enough to score plenty of goals against Bromley standard opposition? Yes, obviously, that's how he got a move to Ipswich. Would that starting eleven win League Two? Yeah, obviously it would. Are either of those questions worth asking? No.

I was willing him to leather his penalty. But looking at his face walking up you just knew he wasn't and would put in a powder puff effort. So nervous that he choked. Really surprised he was even allowed to put his hand up for it - someone should have pulled him really. He must be feeling utterly bereft today and know his time here is pretty much up.

One can only conclude after the time he;s had being coached by KM, being around decent players and with the chances he's one that sadly isn't going to make it. I
